Immersive View Comes to Canada

Immersive View

Last year, we launched Immersive View, a groundbreaking way to explore the world through Google Maps. It helps you do more than simply “know” about a place - but lets you experience it virtually as if you’re actually there. By fusing together billions of Street View and aerial images with advanced computer vision and AI, Immersive View creates lifelike, multi-dimensional experiences that transport you to the heart of your destination.

Today, we're excited to bring this immersive experience to Canada! Five major cities—Montreal, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, and Edmonton—are now ready to be explored in a whole new way, helping Canadians with helpful information they need to confidently make the best choices about where and when to go.

Imagine planning a summer getaway to Toronto. With Immersive View on Google Maps, you can experience the city before you even arrive. Take a virtual flight over the iconic CN Tower, then seamlessly descend to street level to explore nearby restaurants, hotels, and attractions. But Immersive View isn't just for Toronto! Get ready to virtually wander the charming cobblestone streets of Old Montreal, stroll through Calgary's lively downtown, admire Ottawa's historic Parliament Hill, or discover Edmonton's picturesque River Valley – all from the comfort of your phone.

With the time slider, you can also see how crowded a place will be at different points in the day so you can plan ahead.
