#DidYouKnow that the courts you’re watching during the Olympic beach volleyball matches are made with Sibelco COBANASIL®? 🏐 We've previously been honoured to provide sand for the Olympic Games in Athens (2004), London (2012), and Rio (2016). And also this year, we've sourced the sand from the nearest quarry to the host city: from Montgru-Saint-Hilaire, approximately 100 kilometres from Paris. Olympic-standard sand must meet 3 key requirements: ✔ The perfect colour to avoid sun glare ✔ Precise subangular grit and grain size between 0.25mm and 1.0mm for stability ✔ High thermal resistance to prevent heating under the sun Our COBANASIL® meets all these standards, ensuring excellent firmness, cushioning, and grip. Falling into the ultra-fine category, this sand offers exceptional stability and a firm yet responsive surface. Best of luck to all athletes! We are excited to support you in your competitions. #Olympics #BeachVolleyball #COBANASIL #SportsSurfaces #Sibelco #Innovation #materialsolutions #FIVB #MaterialSolutions

#Didyouknow: Quarries can be vital habitats for wild pollinators! 🐝🦋 Together with Natuurpunt, we're transforming quarries into thriving ecosystems. We've discovered rare species like the Four-spotted Furrow Bee in our Flemish quarries. These sites, with their sandy soils and varied relief, offer perfect nesting opportunities for ground-nesting bees and foster wildflower growth, essential for pollinators. By integrating nature into our operations, we’re proud to support biodiversity and contribute to healthier ecosystems. Read more about our efforts and the hidden world of pollinators in our quarries. 👇 #Sibelco #Biodiversity #Sustainability #Pollinators #Natuurpunt

"Together we can make an impactful contribution and water security for the future," clarifies Inge Neven, CEO of VITO about the Climate pond in our Donk (Belgium) quarry. Our Sibelco silica quarry has been converted into a climate pond for water buffering. By installing an adjustable lock at the Donk overflow, we can now regulate the continuous water flow from the Donk quarry into the Witte Nete river, ensuring water availability during dry periods. In collaboration with VITO, the governor of the province of Antwerp, Pipda, the Flemish government we have found a smart solution to buffer up to 150,000 m³ of water and use the daily overflow of about 10,000 m³ as an alternative water source. Beyond the climate pond, our quarry offers numerous recreational opportunities. #ThrowbackThursday to an unforgettable event at Pennenzakkenrock! At the end of June, the 'Zilvermeer' domain was transformed into a fantastic outdoor play paradise for the hippest children's festival on the region’s best soil. For 30 years, Pennenzakkenrock has celebrated the school year's end with a focus on fun and experiences, making this year’s edition a real party! Together with the Innoptus Solar Team, we were invited as guest to promote sustainable driving, technology & innovation, minerals and our ‘materials solutions advancing life’ within the audience. Our local team prepared the next generation of colleagues by sharing the importance of minerals in our daily life and the use in a broad range of applications. After participating in some mind games, we shared some Sibelco branded gifts with the attendees. This specific ‘Zilvermeer’ domain & location in Belgium is still very close with Sibelco as it’s one of our first active quarries, dating back more than 150 years. Today it is still a reconstructed quarry in the heart of the founding area of the Sibelco company. A touristic spot with a huge amount of visitors a year and an ambassador for the ‘silver’ silica sand of Sibelco. Like previous editions of Pennenzakkenrock & the province of Antwerp was happy to guarantee safety, quality and fun for 23,500 people. Proud to be partnering this! From quarry to a haven for recreation, nature, and water management! Earlier this month, we welcomed a lot of neighbours, the Governor and some deputies of the Antwerp Province, the Dessel Mayor, authorities and NGO’s, media & press, partners and Sibelco colleagues at our Donk silica quarry in Belgium. Because, together with our partners, we have achieved a remarkable transformation under the Blue Deal and Green Deal initiatives. Even as our quarry remains active, we've created a variety of recreational opportunities for nature enthusiasts and spaces for wild pollinators, significantly boosting nature's development. At our quarry, you’ll discover a climate pond for water buffering, a scenic viewpoint, a new footpath, and a cycle path. "This project is rooted in our region. Bringing together economy, science, nature, tourism & partners in unprecedented ways. It’s in Sibelco's DNA to create this kind of added value for our society," says Bart Daems, our Director Sustainability Central Europe. “Happiness, great to see so much happiness and how people are celebrating together, incredible to experience how much progress we have made in these few years” – Carlos Monge🌟 At Sibelco, we believe in the power of unity through diversity. This June, we proudly celebrated Pride Month across our global offices, it reinforces our commitment to inclusivity and belonging. 🌈 From hosting workshops on LGBTQ+ equality to decorating our facilities with vibrant rainbow colours. Our teams have embraced this celebration wholeheartedly. The efforts are not just about events, but about creating a culture where everyone feels valued and included. We also asked our Executive Leadership Team what they think of these efforts. Here are some of their thoughts: 🎤 "We all belong to Sibelco. Regardless of religion, gender, or origin, everyone has something to contribute." – An Buttiens 🎤 "We’ve created a safe environment for sharing stories. It’s heartening to know people feel accepted and that we're all part of one big team." – Michiel Smits 🎤 “That’s the culture we work in: an inclusive culture. We have values, everybody is welcome, it’s a matter of respect & culture.” – Flavio Hees Let’s continue creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all. Proud Moments at Sibelco: A Throwback to Sustainable Innovation and Teamwork It’s inspiring to see that our Director of Energy, Mattijs Plettinx, was once the team manager of the Innoptus Solar Team. 14 years ago, Mattijs and his team built the Indupol One - a car still considered one of the most reliable ever constructed by the team - and competed in a race across the Australian outback. Listening to Mattijs recount their journey, from design to production, is incredible to watch. Congratulations to Mattijs and his team for their achievements: the first innovation award with a 3D-printed battery pack and win! Thank you, Mattijs, for bringing your dedication and sustainability experiences to Sibelco. #ThrowbackThursday #Innovation #Sustainability #Teamwork #SolarEnergy #Sibelco

Due to their 3D-printed battery pack, they also won our first innovation prize.🏆🇧🇪 Watch their inspiring story told by Mattijs Plettinx, former Team Manager and now working at Sibelco Group, in this video. ☀️
