Offre de stage aux Archives KANAL — Stageplaats bij de Archieven van KANAL ⤵ 𝗙𝗥 | Les Archives KANAL assureront la conservation et la valorisation des fonds KANAL (documents liés à la direction générale et artistique, au bâtiment, à la programmation, aux collections, etc.), de la documentation rassemblée par KANAL, de fonds confiés à sa garde (archives d’artistes, d’artist-run spaces, de collectifs ou tout acteur majeur qui aura influencé la scène artistique locale). En 2024, un premier traitement des archives institutionnelles KANAL a été initié. A ce stade, seules les archives papier sont traitées. Votre stage s’effectuerait au sein du département Collections, sous la supervision de l’archiviste KANAL. Le stage proposé consistera principalement à traiter des fonds d’archives, aider à la collecte des archives de la Fondation et réaliser des missions de conservation. "From Brussels to Anywhere": a participative project led by artist Maria Kley in collaboration with students from the Imelda Institute, Molenbeek. ⤵ Over the course of several workshops, the students created a "group portrait" using sculptures destined for installation in the school’s courtyard. Maria Kley and the students met every week, either at school, in the artist's studio, or while visiting exhibitions together. During walks, philosophical conversations, and workshops, the eleven sixth-year Tourism students (2022-2023) reflected on their personal history and their ambitions for the future. Taking place in the final months before their graduation, "From Brussels to Anywhere" allowed the students to discuss with the artist and with each other ways to broaden their horizons, stimulate their imagination, and express their own views on life.   The workshops were centred around large checkered bags known as “shoppers”, which are a common sight on the streets of Brussels. These everyday objects represent “baggage” in both the literal and figurative sense: not only the objects we carry with us, but also our personal experiences, talents, and plans for life, work, or travel.   The workshops resulted in a series of sculptures in the form of armchairs. The seats, made from strong, durable acrylic resin, combine the original shape and texture of the shopping bags with the personal stories of the students, all the while reflecting the creative process. If “parties always end in the kitchen”, it’s because we cook much more than just food there. Every Thursday of the Kunstenfestivaldesarts, two artists or collectives engage in conversation around cooking in the KVS foyer. These meetings are an opportunity to reflect together on the role the kitchen plays in our imagination and in our daily lives: a space where several geographies and stories that we have inherited from the past converge; a space for collective experimentation, sometimes used as a place of meeting and political dissidence; a space for work, spontaneous encounters, transmission and reflection on the future. The programme is developed in partnership between Kunstenfestivaldesarts, KANAL-Centre Pompidou and CIVA and is part of the Free School and The World History of the Commons, curated with Silvia Franceschini and Grégory Castéra With the participation of Atlas of Oven, Mounira Al Solh, Bakudapan Food Study Group, Cooking Sections, Luigi Coppola, Michael Rakowitz & The Kitchen.
