We're working to accelerate the shift to a new era of sustainable global motorsports. A huge part of those efforts is focused on engineering more sustainable motorsports tyres – from the raw materials we make those tyres from, to their performance capabilities, and their recyclability at end of life. The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is at the forefront of these efforts. In last year's edition of the 3,000km solar-powered race across the Australian Outback – which marked 10 years of Bridgestone's sponsorship – we introduced ENLITEN-equipped tyres for the first time in motorsports. Lightweight, and providing low rolling resistance and wear resistance, our specialist ENLITEN tyres maximised the teams' performance – and demonstrated our sustainable technology at the same time. The tyres featured a recycled and renewable material ratio of 63% – over double the ratio of the tyres used in the 2019 event. We're continuing to evolve for the next race's next instalment as we work to realise a greener, cleaner future.

The Opening Ceremony of Paris 2024 Olympic Games takes place today and Bridgestone, as a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, will be there every step of the way.   We are honored to work with an inspiring team of athlete ambassadors who are making an impact both on and off the field, and we will be proudly cheering for them during Paris 2024.   All those years of preparation have led to this. Here's how our Webfleet solution helped Elis, a UK leader in circular services, cut fuel consumption by over €2 million. Textile rental and laundry service provider Elis – and its 750-vehicle fleet – makes around 5,000 deliveries to restaurants, hotels, hospitals and manufacturers every day. However, Elis needed to make clear improvements in both driver safety and fleet sustainability – and do so with one integrated solution. Elis began working with Webfleet to combine its fleet management needs – telematics, cameras, mileage auditing, fleet data reporting and transport management – on a single interface. The company now has an accurate, real-time single source of truth across its fleet, and a complete risk management audit trail – helping Elis save an additional €1.4 million in insurance costs.

We've taken another major step on the road to carbon neutrality in our Manufacturing operations across EMEA. According to the results of our latest independently verified Carbon Footprint assessment, our manufacturing plants reduced their total CO2 emissions by 66% from the 2011 baseline to the end of 2023. This means that we have exceeded our global Milestone 2030 goal of halving CO2 emissions – seven years ahead of the target date! Our ultimate aim is carbon neutrality (Scope 1 & 2) by 2050. Thanks to this incredible achievement, our company moves closer to delivering on this commitment and the overarching Bridgestone E8 Commitment, as we contribute to a sustainable future for all.

In 2023, Bridgestone road safety initiatives impacted nearly 100,000 people in the communities we're part of throughout the world. That number is the result of many standout initiatives, including our "Sicurezza of the road" programme. In partnership with the Italian Red Cross – and made possible by Bridgestone volunteers – we provided road safety workshops to 5,000 school students, covering everything from vehicle control to tyre maintenance. It's no surprise that 2023 was also the year that we launched the Bridgestone Road Safety Program (BRSP). The BRSP unites everything we’re doing in the global road safety arena as we help the fightback against our big road safety problem. The Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), presented by Bridgestone, returns to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week to showcase the world's fatest autonomous racecar. The IAC-developed AV-24 will be piloted by software from the PoliMOVE-MSU team, with support from the UNIMORE Racing team, to take on one of motorracing's most challenging courses, the Goodwood Hillclimb. The IAC and its university teams have already set several world records, including the autonomous land speed record and the greatest accumulation of miles in autonomous racing. Now, they're attempting a new autonomous world record on the famous Goodwood hill!

Our flagship ultra-high performance tyre, Bridgestone Potenza Sport ENLITEN, has been custom-developed for the new all-electric Maserati Grecale Folgore. Extending the EV’s driving range while delivering superior handling performance in challenging conditions on both dry and wet surfaces, the tyres have been specifically engineered for the Grecale Folgore's unique needs. After recent projects on the Maserati MC20 and Maserati Grecale, this is the latest in a long series of collaborations with our long-term partner, Maserati. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e_KCV5u2

Since 2008, we've been developing Bridgestone’s “Airfree Concept”, a next-generation tyre that doesn’t require air inflation. With no air pressure management required, the air-free tyre reduces maintenance demands. Plus, in the case of our Airfree Concept tyre, it's also recyclable – thanks to resin-made spokes and tread rubber, and a retreadable surface. This year, our air-free tyre is being tested on public roads in Tokyo, Japan, for the first time. It's a significant milestone on not only its own journey, but also Bridgestone’s as we work toward a more sustainable future of mobility.
