MasterChef fans heartbroken over 'unbelievable' elimination: 'So devastated'

MasterChef fans were left heartbroken on Tuesday night after one of their favourites was eliminated ahead of the semi-final. Harry Butterfield was not the person many fans expected to see go home, with some saying he "deserved to be in the final."

The contestants were cooking for Josh Niland and Harry failed to impress, with Sofia Levin sharing the sad news, telling him, "I'm so sorry Harry, but you're leaving the competition today."

"You don't have to be sorry," he responded. "I know I made some mistakes."

Josh then shared some advice, "I wanted to say to you as well, there was a number of experiences that I've had where I was responsible for the kitchen and then all of a sudden, your mentor comes in and people that you admire more than they could imagine and I know that that's steered me wrong on a couple of occasions.

"And it does hurt because you cook with emotion," he added. "What you did today, you should be very proud."

Andy Allen then asked Pezza if he had any words for his friend, and he told Harry, "You're just a top bloke, mate... You're a good cook, don't forget that, man. I'm going to miss you."

"I think the only place I've been where people care so much about your creativity and want you to do well is around my family, so I get it when people say that it's like a family here," Harry said tearfully. "Look, I'm gutted it's over, but I'm proud of the journey that I've been on and really grateful for the experience."

"I want you to look around and look at the impact that you've had on these people," Andy told Harry as he saw everyone was crying.

'Devastated'

Harry's departure left fans devastated, with one user writing, "This is heartbreaking to watch! First Darrsh now Harry! You were fabulous to watch and your skills with fish and shellfish were unbelievable! Both you and Darrsh so humble! Wishing you well on where your cooking journey takes you next!"
