Fujitsu CFO apologizes for U.K. Post Office scandal

Financial chief pledges efforts to restore trust as company weighs compensation

TOKYO -- The chief financial officer of Fujitsu on Wednesday apologized for the role its software played in the wrongful prosecution of hundreds of post office branch managers in the U.K. for financial crimes.

"I would like to convey our deepest apologies to the sub-postmasters and their families and reiterate that we regard this matter with the utmost seriousness," Takeshi Isobe said during an earnings call.
