This paper proposes two algorithms to impose seepage boundary conditions in the context of Richards' equation for groundwater flows in unsaturated media. Seepage conditions are non-linear boundary conditions, that can be formulated as a set of unilateral constraints on both the pressure head and the water flux at the ground surface, together with a complementarity condition: these conditions in practice require switching between Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions on unknown portions on the boundary. Upon realizing the similarities of these conditions with unilateral contact problems in mechanics, we take inspiration from that literature to propose two approaches: the first method relies on a strongly consistent penalization term, whereas the second one is obtained by an hybridization approach, in which the value of the pressure on the surface is treated as a separate set of unknowns. The flow problem is discretized in mixed form with div-conforming elements so that the water mass is preserved. Numerical experiments show the validity of the proposed strategy in handling the seepage boundary conditions on geometries with increasing complexity.

Abstract:
Let $E/\mathbb{Q}$ be an elliptic curve having multiplicative reduction at a prime $p$. Let $(g,h)$ be a pair of eigenforms of weight $1$ arising as the theta series of an imaginary quadratic field $K$, and assume that the triple-product $L$-function $L(f,g,h,s)$ is self-dual and does not vanish at the central critical point $s=1$. The main result of this article is a formula expressing the $p$-ad…

The main result of this article is a formula expressing the $p$-adic iterated integrals introduced in [DLR] to the Kolyvagin classes associated by Bertolini and Darmon to a system of Heegner points on $E$.

Abstract:
The main purpose of this note is to understand the arithmetic encoded in the special value of the $p$-adic $L$-function $\mathcal{L}_p^g(\mathbf{f},\mathbf{g},\mathbf{h})$ associated to a triple of modular forms $(f,g,h)$ of weights $(2,1,1)$, in the case where the classical $L$-function $L(f\otimes g\otimes h,s)$ - which typically has sign $+1$ - does not vanish at its central critical point…

The main purpose of this note is to understand the arithmetic encoded in the special value of the $p$-adic $L$-function $\mathcal{L}_p^g(\mathbf{f},\mathbf{g},\mathbf{h})$ associated to a triple of modular forms $(f,g,h)$ of weights $(2,1,1)$, in the case where the classical $L$-function $L(f\otimes g\otimes h,s)$ - which typically has sign $+1$ - does not vanish at its central critical point $s=1$. When $f$ corresponds to an elliptic curve $E/\mathbb{Q}$ and the classical $L$-function vanishes, the Elliptic Stark Conjecture of Darmon-Lauder-Rotger predicts that $\mathcal{L}_p^g(\mathbf{f},\mathbf{g},\mathbf{h})(2,1,1)$ is either $0$ (when the order of vanishing of the complex $L$-function is $>2$) or related to logarithms of global points on $E$ and a certain Gross--Stark unit associated to $g$. We complete the picture proposed by the Elliptic Stark Conjecture by providing a formula for the value $\mathcal{L}_p^g(\mathbf{f},\mathbf{g},\mathbf{h})(2,1,1)$ in the case where $L(f\otimes g\otimes h,1)\neq 0$.

On the elliptic Stark conjecture in higher weight
Authors:

Abstract:
We study the special values of the triple product $p$-adic $L$-function constructed by Darmon and Rotger at all classical points outside the region of interpolation. We propose conjectural formulas for these values that can be seen as extending the Elliptic Stark Conjecture, and we provide theoretical evidence for them by proving some particular cases.
