    Forza Horizon 5

There's an achievement for completing every event in the 4 seasons of a year (or whatever it's called.) you're right that you only need 40 points a week to get both cars - which is great because it means you can skip the online events if that's not your thing - but you've got to grind everything...

    The Zen Thread

Intel has given them the widest open goal, there's no need for them to rush something out and get any negative press about "amd not hitting clock speeds." Prices seemed to leak yesterday and are cheaper than the equivalent Zen 3 parts were at launch. It's shaping up to be a solid release, even...

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

For the Xbox controller, a wired connection lets you use the headphone jack on the controller which is disabled when using Bluetooth. I think it's the same with Dual shocks, but it's been a long time since I tried it.

Sounds like a good child needs to buy them a Starlink Roam ;)

    Next GPU releases: 2022 edition

Talking of their fine wine, Fluid Motion Frames 2 was announced today promising better frame Gen for Radeon 6000 and 7000 cards. I can't really figure out how to enable this in the word salad of "gaming features" and I'm sure it'll be underwhelming compared to Nvidia's version but at least those...

    The Zen Thread

As dumb as Intel's "13th gen" branding was it at least was an easy was to see if you were getting the latest version. I can't think of an easy way to let users know a new gen but with lower core count is worse than last Gen with higher cores, especially with efficiency and performance cores...

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

You could also check if the game actually needs steam or the client to be running, or if you can just start the exe and play without it. It depends which drm they decided to use.

    Gaming deals, half price caplets

It's a reseller, but has been around for years now and it's reputable compared to the cesspit of G2A or Kinguin.

I think phone activation still works even if it can't be done online.

    Qualcomm Snapdragon X (Oryon)

I don't think they could even do that internally with the Xbox division. Are they going to tell Turn10 to delay the next Forza because they need an ARM version as well as x86 and Xbox (which I guess are baked into the compiler by now.) They could probably do it with Minecraft though.

    Forza Horizon 5

If your goal is to have every car in the game then the SLR is the best choice. I only got mine from the credit glitch, wasn't looking forward to the grind for it. Congrats on winning the prize though!

    Office 2010 License Question

Didn't Outlook take longer to get the ribbon interface than the other apps? Or maybe that was Access. Anyway, Andrew - I think I've got an old Home Use Program key for office 2010 somewhere if you need it, shoot me a PM and I can dig it out.

It's more of a side-scroller / Metroidvania than the 09 reboot, which was 3rd person like Sands of Time

Time to replace my current desktop with something gaming focused

Only change I'd think about is going for a regular atx board instead of mini just so everything isn't as cramped and can probably find something with 2x nvme and a an E-keyed M2 so you can upgrade the wifi card if needed (the Asus board looks like the wifi is built-in.) You might also need a...

They still seem to have some contacts, though it's been pretty threadbare on actual technical dives since Ian Cutress left. They're still good for putting up press slides at least.

    The Zen Thread

Zen 5 desktop release is set for July 31, but no prices yet - guess they don't want to give Intel time to react. The tech briefing of 15% IPC seems legit, and AMD is touting that the 9700x is faster than the 5800x3d for games. More details over at anandtech, which feels like the last old-school...

Starlink. It’s the internet, from space!

It's funny their website still says "UNLIMITED DATA, NO CONTRACTS All Starlink subscription plans include unlimited high-speed data on land with no long-term contracts or commitments." Though the cheaper roam plan does have a 50gb cap. Guess they forgot to update that copy.
