Is this page dangerous to my computer's health?

Well, my wife didn't think the last sentance in your response was funny, but I did. Thank you very much for taking the time to check this and respond.

Is this page dangerous to my computer's health?

The link starts out "19julMac11.z5." before getting to the "web.core.windows.net" bit. "19jul" was the date; she was on a "Mac"; I'm unsure what the 11 designated, and "z5" may have been the universal time zone we're in (Eastern Daylight Time). The page had three windows and told you audibly...

Alternative design to Fusion Energy from Helion

It took 2 years to refuel those boats, but it could take another 2 years while the boats were waiting for a berth in the dry dock. That second problem still persists. See last month's Proceedings of the U.S. Naval Institute.

    Importing mailboxes, Mac to Mac

Well, Mail import didn't seem able to connect to ~/Library, so I exported mboxes from the 2010 MacBook Air and imported into the 2020. It would be nice to know how to connect Mail Import to another machine's ~/Library/Mail/, but this worked.

    Importing mailboxes, Mac to Mac

The wife's ca 2010 MacBook Air stopped connecting to Comcast.net. I couldn't do anything with it and an Apple Support advisor said the machine was too old. That was enough to keep me out of Ars and to look for a replacement. Anticipating a need for a new machine, the kids had given her an...

How difficult is it to program a restart of Southwest Airlines point-to point system after a major service disruption.?

ramases ( #11 ) seems to have a good handle on this issue. Now for SWA to withstand the blowback. In print, the issue seems to be devolving into finger pointing associated with attempts to profit.

How difficult is it to program a restart of Southwest Airlines point-to point system after a major service disruption.?

I would think there might be a general model of point-to-point systems and the effects of perturbations thereon. I was hoping there was a famous general problem, such as the four-colors-on-a-map problem, that made s point-to-point solution difficult, doable or easy.

How difficult is it to program a restart of Southwest Airlines point-to point system after a major service disruption.?

In other words, change from point to point to hub and spoke? Point to point is much nicer from the passenger standpoint, as long as the system doesn't crash. Could they start to skip stops plus fly empty to catch up?

How difficult is it to program a restart of Southwest Airlines point-to point system after a major service disruption.?

Southwest Airlines point-to-point system is said to be much more difficult to restart from a random configuration than the hub-and-spoke systems used by the other major airlines in the U.S.. This is mentioned as the primary reason their service was so severely curtailed by the recent bomb...

Can renewables replace fossil and nuclear fuels?

Uranium hexafloride is also nasty shit chemically, regardless of the radioactivity.

Can renewables replace fossil and nuclear fuels?

There are several different frequencies associated with storage. In natural gas plants, there is the idling gas plant with a max-power time of less than a minute. Then there are air-craft style engines with startup times in minutes. Then longer term combined-cycle plants with startup times in...

Can renewables replace fossil and nuclear fuels?

You're moving the goalposts. I said "finding a good repository site" is a solved problem, in the sense of one that will work. You've changed the solution to storing waste at a site. Yucca Flats exists but is not yet storing waste. Furthermore, France has a site that is now storing waste, so...

Can renewables replace fossil and nuclear fuels?

Finding a good repository site is not a trivial problem, but it is one that is eminently soluble, and has, in fact, already been solved. The problem is raised as a reason to not build nukes. But it isn't. That is a shock for a lot of people who have been fed this pablum for years and have come...

Can renewables replace fossil and nuclear fuels?

We aren't governed by consensus. It doesn't matter whether or not it is reached. 50,000 years is a pittance geologically, and one can be assured that containment won't be breached by natural means. However politically, 50,000 years is an eternity, and the main threat to containment is other...

Anyone else on Big Island for Mauna Loa's eruption?

I would think enough earthmoving equipment could abate a flow, depending on the flow rate, at a tremendous cost. The talk of lava covering everything reminds me of planting trees on strip mines. They start growing well and then the mine owner takes a notion to remine the land under some of...

Can renewables replace fossil and nuclear fuels?

You're referring to the Union Pacific, Northern Pacific, etc, the transcontinentals. There was a lot of private financing complementing the federal "funding" of those, but also of other lines. The Pennsylvania Railroad electrified the NY-Wash corridor in the 1930s without gov't assistance, to...
