Birds of Prey review: Fiiiinally, DC Comics returns to film greatness

I agree. It wasn't super "thought provoking cinema", but my son and I loved it, and Momoa is fun to watch as a decidly non-traditional take on Aquaman. AquaBro, is more like it. :)

First US case of new coronavirus reported

The numbers aren't really there yet to get a reliable fatality rate. Obviously I hope it isn't high, but we don't know yet.

Richard Stallman leaves MIT after controversial remarks on rape

Torvalds has been/can be an a-hole. Stallman is a disgusting creep.

North Korea reveals explosive HIV outbreak—after claiming to be disease-free

I have a feeling that's the last time we'll be hearing from Dr. Kim Mun Song.

Amazon and Google settle feud, bring YouTube back to Fire TV devices

What about Fire Tablets? I'd enjoy watching YouTube clips on my Pooping Computer whilst "taking care of business". :)

Microsoft explains one Azure authentication outage as another one happens

I feel your pain. I just rolled it out to 250 people two weeks ago, convincing them it was a good idea, and then this crap happens. Now I've got the remainder of the people not yet on it giving me grief. Not cool.

Google cofounder called Trump’s election “deeply offensive” in leaked video

If Google were government-run, and funded by tax payers, I'd be shocked and outraged. It's not. So I'm not.

Get the NES Classic on ThinkGeek, while you can

I don't mind Dell owning EMC, but I do mind them owning VMWare.

Heat can kill and we’re turning up the thermostat

Good thing I don't "believe" in climate change! We'll all be fine. /s

Review: Apple’s $329 iPad is for people who have never upgraded their tablet

IMHO, this tablet is the perfect price point/feature ratio. I had an iPad Air, and LOVED it. I never thought it was too slow, and that's with editing video, photos, and using GarageBand. The only thing that made me upgrade is that the battery went oddly wonky faster than the previous iPads I...

Apple’s FaceTime app blamed for crash as distracted-driving deaths mount

Too bad he can't be charged with murder, since he willfully did something extremely stupid.

The Volkswagen Golf TSI: Wolfsburg gains the middle ground

Not really. A Honda Civic EX-T, with slightly more power and better gas mileage, along with comparable features, is a few grand less than that.

Apple scrambles after 40 malicious “XcodeGhost” apps haunt App Store

So, pardon my confusion, but do I need to wipe Angry Birds 2 off of my phone, or was it just the version in China that was affected?

For “smaller” eruptions, Yellowstone can wake up quickly

Luckily, the most likely eruption will be a smaller scale one, discussed in the article. The "Super Eruption" type is exceedingly rare and unlikely, and some geologists question whether another one (from Yellowstone, anyway) will ever happen again at all.

Earth’s devastating supervolcanoes powered by density differences

Apparently that wouldn't do much good: http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanoes/yel ... ge_50.html "Scientists agree that drilling into a volcano would be of questionable usefulness. Notwithstanding the enormous expense and technological difficulties in drilling through hot, mushy rock, drilling is...

Evernote: so useful, even malware loves it

"Nobody's going to block Dropbox or Box," That's not really entirely accurate. I know a lot of businesses do, including ours. There's often an issue with using certain cloud services that don't adhere to SOC2 and SAS70 Type II compliance for public companies, and AFAIK neither Dropbox nor Box...

Secure your digital self: auditing your cloud identity

Sure they would have helped Mat. Had Mat used two-factor authentication, he wouldn't have been as compromised as he was. Had Mat not tied his Google account and iCloud accounts together for recovery, he wouldn't have been as compromised. Had Mat had local backups (i.e. Time Machine, CCC, or...

Does "Mastered for iTunes" matter to music? Ars puts it to the test

How does one do 5.1 surround on an mp3, AAC, or standard CD? Just curious. Because DVD-A is definitely a great format for that (and there is a difference in sound with that), and if it were distributed via something like iTMS it could reacher a broader market. You could argue that SACD/DVD-A...
