Ella Montgomery was a former boxer and one of six victims to Professor Pyg's unethical experiments to eliminate physical imperfections.

History[]

At some point, she donated a kidney to her twin sister, although the latter did not survive the procedure. As a result, she took up boxing, which landed her with at least one injury that necessitated a metal plate being installed into her head. She also had to undergo a forced removal of a tattoo that left her with a burn scar on her right thigh. She was living in Huntsville, Alabama when she was abducted by the Circus of the Strange during their tour there.

Upon being brought to Gotham City, she was experimented on by the leader of the Circus of the Strange, Professor Pyg. As her flaws were too severe for even him to fix, she instead ended up murdered via an overdose of painkillers, as well as having her fingerprints destroyed by acid. She was then placed at a construction site on Founder's Island, with the word "Defective" posted nearby as well as opera music blaring nearby.

Batman eventually found her body when trying to solve a chain of related murders. He managed to identify her via anomalies in her system and cross-referencing them to people reported missing, because her DNA was too corrupted and damaged for him to identify directly via DNA analysis.
