Parents Beware! I wish I knew how frustrating this thing is

If it weren’t for the breathing monitoring we would have dumped this hot garbage a long time ago. First off, you have to purchase a non-apple tablet just to even be able to watch it, because who in their right mind would use their smartphone to constantly watch their child? You can’t do anything else on your phone so this basically turns your smartphone into a $1000 baby monitor. Finally after months we have the settings in a “sweet spot” but we went through COUNTLESS cycles of uninstalling the app, re-pairing, etc. because nothing else would work. The screen would just be stuck on “Connecting securely to Miku” but would never connect. Sometimes I would try a different wifi connection. Sometimes I would rotate the screen 13 times and it would finally connect. Sometimes I would turn the wifi on and off… there is no rhyme or reason why and how this thing actually “securely connects”. We ended up buying a backup cheap monitor to have because many times we would wake up in the middle of the night to find it stuck again on “Connecting securely to Miku”. I feel bad that we bought this for our friends for their baby shower and have to go through this insufferable process. Oh and the developers rarely update the app, and when they do things usually get worse. Please do me a favor for peace of mind and just look elsewhere. I really wanted to love this but it has caused us so much frustration and inconvenience.

Great notifications

It took me a while to figure out this app, but once I did I love it. Once you open the app once, the audio from the monitor will stay playing through your phone speakers even when other apps are open or your phone is locked, and the app will notify you when your baby wakes up and falls asleep - I set the sensitivity a little lower on this part so that id know when my newborn woke up sooner and it’s been great when I want to do some chores around the house and not get sucked into staring at the monitor every time he makes a little noise! There’s also a really loud alarm that will sound when there is zero movement detected, which gives major peace of mind about things like SIDS while you’re sleeping - the alarm has gone off on accident when I picked my baby up without quitting the app and it is definitely loud enough to wake you up or get your attention if you’re busy!

The analytics are fun to keep track of and I love that the app will tell me how long total my baby has been asleep for during a nap so I can keep track when I’m trying to wake him up to keep him on a feeding schedule during the day!

The ONLY suggestion I have would be to keep your phone connected to some kind of louder speaker when you’re sleeping if you want baby noises to wake you up, because other monitors I’ve used have been louder than this one when the phone is locked. Otherwise, this is 100% perfect!

Great product and app!

I spent hours researching and reading reviews to find the right monitor for us. SO glad I landed on this one! What an amazing product! From the moment it came I was impressed. First, it arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. It even came with a screwdriver, ruler, level, and more for an easy install. I am a first-time mom and had no idea what to expect and it blew me away. The app made the set-up super easy through clear and easy to follow prompts. I actually had a small problem with it finding my WiFi, but customer service was amazing. I asked what the issue could be and within minutes I had my answer. I just needed to shut down the Miku and start over. It worked like a charm. The picture quality is amazing and the alerts and information it gives you is incredible. I don’t need to have the app up on my phone and running my battery the whole time, the alerts let me know if there is a change – which is really nice. Another nice feature is the sound machine! I can change the type of sound, the volume, and turn it on or off from my phone. It also doesn’t drown out any baby noise. Lastly, I love that my husband can peek in from work at naptime and if one of us is out of town, it is nice to see babe from afar. From the design to the functionality, I am more pleased than I could have ever expected. I definitely recommend the Miku to anyone looking for a monitor and peace of mind.

Must have baby monitor

Miku’s product is the Taj Mahal of baby monitors. You get what you pay for and spending the extra money for the security and well-being of your child is the best investment you can make. Out with our old monitor and in with the Miku. We can see some of our daughter’s vitals including her breathing patterns. The room humidity and temperature is displayed and accurate (we like the house cold at night but with a little one we are able to be conscious of ensuring it doesn’t get too cold). We can play music through the monitor and talk to our baby through it. The best thing is, the Miku is a smart device. No more carrying around a receiver to see our daughter as everything is displayed right on our phones. This means multiple receivers (myself and my wife) and that our daughter is always with us, even when she is sleeping. You don’t need the app open to hear your baby. When the Miku is on you can hear everything in your baby’s nursery (you can have the volume high, low or on mute on your phone, pending your preference). A personal favorite for me is that when I am on the road for work I can click on the Miku app and see my daughter sleeping, I can even talk to her if she is fighting sleeping, from anywhere in the world (as long as I have cell service or WiFi). Do yourself, your family, and your baby a service and get a Miku. You’ll be incredible satisfied as we are.

Expensive piece of garbage

Honestly save your money and just buy a cheaper camera as this one is not worth it. It constantly disconnects from wifi with no warning and then makes you go through the whole setup process from scratch (locating it via Bluetooth, typing in your wifi password over and over again). Sure the setup process takes 5 mins, but it’s not something you want to be doing in a hurry to check on your crying baby when this should already be setup and functioning with no worries. On top of this the monitor and app automatically updates with no warning either! So at 5am when you want to check on your baby, the thing again isn’t working because it’s running an update with zero prompts or consent from the user. And is completely unusable while doing so. The whole system is a waiting disaster, literally. It’s dangerous for it to be this unreliable.
I wish there was a way to turn off auto updates because on top of the bad timing and how frustrating they are… they also constantly cause the camera and app to crash! While the updates say they’ll last no longer than 10 minutes, that’s never been the case. Every system update so far has lasted at least 12 hours before I became so frustrated with it and have had to turn everything off, uninstall the app, uninstall the camera from the app and basically do a factory reset. The frustration and panic that this thing causes is a parents worst nightmare.

After 3 baby monitors, happy to have the Miku!

We have loved using the Miku for our second child. We went through THREE monitors with our first child and love many of the features of the Miku that our previous monitors did not offer. First and foremost, I love the respiratory rate monitor. Our first child had scary episodes with viral-induced asthma that would often worsen overnight and I would constantly need to check his respiratory rate throughout the night by going into his room. While our second child does not have this diagnosis, a simple glance at the monitor lets me know things are just fine. The alarms are very sensitive and alert you to any changes. The night vision is fantastic and if the vital tracking was off, I would easily be able to see the rise and fall of his chest while sleeping. So comforting with a newborn! Issues I have had with the monitor center around our wifi connection and not directly related to the monitor itself. I love that the monitor will stay in the background of my phone while I'm getting things done around the house but also have it loaded on a separate device that remains plugged in to avoid draining my battery. Setting up required phone calls to customer support but ultimately I was able to install it independently. If there is ever a lag in connection, quickly logging out and logging back in seems to fix any problem!

Best monitor

We did a lot of research on baby monitors before purchasing the Miku, and it exceeded all of our expectations. It was by far the camera / baby monitor with the most features. We love that all the sleep tracking is automatic! It's amazing how far technology has come. The Miku is able to detect when you put your baby down, how long it takes for them to fall asleep, how long they slept for, when a caretaker helps the baby out, and more... All the statistics, details, and insights are extremely helpful in helping us decide if we need to make adjustments to how we put our baby down to sleep. This gives us peace of mind when we aren't actively watching the baby on a camera or in person. It will detect how many breaths per minute and also alert you if the baby stops breathing. After using the Miku we are extremely satisfied with our purchase. It was very easy to set up (both the hardware and software/app) and we were able to use it right away. The app was very intuitive and both my partner and I have it installed and set up to monitor our baby. There are so many bonus features that we love as well. When viewing the app we're also constantly looking at the temperature and humidity that the Miku reports so that we can make adjustments to the room.

Horrible Camera and Very Delay Technical Support

As a mom of a <12 month old baby, i always concern about the risk of SIDS. I have the MIKU on all night to make sure my baby is safe. However, it has so many bugs and issues, especially with connection. So many times i woke up in the middle of the night and the MIKU was not connecting. No alarm whatsoever. What if this happens when my baby needs me most? One time i woke up, MIKU was not connecting and my baby was crying. What if my baby was not crying to wake me up? Isn’t that dangerous? This past week the MIKU has been bugging the whole time. I tried everything and it still did not work. I reached out to customer service and they gave me some ideas to fix but none works. They told me that they would escalate to engineers and get it fixed soon. A week has gone by and no response. Every nap and every bed time, i restart the miku, restart my router, uninstall app, restart my phone, and install my app just to get it to work and sometimes it did not. How ridiculous is this? I do it because that’s the only way i know how to make it work. I do it because i worry not able to see my child and make sure he is safe. Why am i not getting a new camera yet? I don’t know either. I am trying to give Miku a chance to fix this but my patience is running very low. Very disappointed at their team. I am going to take my business elsewhere if i do not hear back in a few days. Take my advice and don’t buy this camera.

So many issues

This monitor cannot be trusted for the function it is supposed to be for. I cannot trust it to stay on all night. And it also cannot recognize when my baby is away (which it used to be able to do). If I pick my baby up in the middle of the night to feed her, the alarm goes off on my phone which wakes everyone up and is not supposed to happen. I’m half asleep in the night I can’t remember to take my phone and turn off the alarm when I get up to feed her every time. So I have to keep the alarm function off permanently to avoid that. Which defeats the whole purpose of spending $500 on this thing. On top of that I have woken up with it not on at all for some unexplained reason and realized it (because it was much past the time my baby normally wakes up) and turned it back on to realize my baby was crying for who knows how long. Our room is far enough away that we cannot hear the baby at night when we are dead asleep over the noise of the air conditioner. I ended up buying the cheap monitor and camera we have for our older son because I cannot rely on this in any way. The sound machine function also randomly turns off sometimes. The only thing this monitor is good for now is a night light and to allow me to venture out into the yard where my other monitor’s signal won’t reach as far. This is way too expensive for such a piece of junk. Do not get this monitor. Super disappointed.

Unusable Monitor, Glitches Constantly

This is the most frustrating monitor on the market. It never worked consistently up front and had terrible video quality, mostly just frames shown as it glitched through the night. After going through the help process many many times, uninstalling, reinstalling, switching email addresses on file (not sure why that was suggested by the help desk, but here we are), and anything else they could think to tell me, the company kept blaming my internet connection. I pay for premium internet for my home business which can run multiple tv’s, multiple computers, and multiple phones simultaneously, so that’s hard to believe. I even installed a new router node right next to the Miku. No help. They replaced my unit after a ridiculous amount of arguing and blaming me, and the new one is still awful. The app has been telling us the unit is offline while it is running and the apps only work intermittently. I’ve tried to load it on two different phones and an iPad to use the sleep sounds and they all claim the unit is offline so I can’t even access or use the base functions. The product has gone from bad to worse. The developers used to have a feature that allowed you to create a default sound and video mode so I wouldn’t even need the app to turn it on, but they eliminated it on a previous update. Now that the app doesn’t work, this is now just a useless piece of plastic
