Works half the time

The app works half the time you call upon it, plain and simple. If it’s working, then you have yourself a working baby monitor with pretty clear pictures. No complaints when the app is working. That’s where the 2 stars come from.

However, the app freezes about 50% of the time. That is crazy and simply unacceptable for a device that you need to help ensure your child’s safety. Imagine checking your baby monitor 10 times and only being able to view live video half of those times. That’s just unacceptable. The basic function of a baby monitor is to monitor and the app fails to do that basic function 50% of the time. There’s really no need to worry about anything else like image clarity or other features if this basic function of live video freezes half the time.

If Cubo can solve the issue with the app freezing 50% of the time, then I would give this app/camera a much higher review. But that’s the major issue, and one that is unacceptable regardless of its other features. Please fix the freezing issues!

Great camera. In my top 5 baby product purchases

I love this camera/monitor. Very, very clear images day or night. Options to scroll back playback or zoom in. Also options to change settings / alerts. For example my baby is in the snoo at the moment so I have certain features turned off on the camera (for now, until he is in his crib). I like that I can control settings / features and decide what I want to be notified about.
Taking about features, Lol, I used the speaker to actually shhhh my baby to sleep today after I could see he was fussing. I’m surprised but it worked and he went to sleep. So I like that I can talk to him. I like the playback options and how you can go back into the past 24 hours and record and save 2min portions. I also like the temperature and humidity readings. When baby is in his crib will add option to use roll and face covered alerts.
It does occasionally display a message saying connection is unstable. I usually close the app and reopen when this occurs. I haven’t noticed it completely freezing. Just a slight lag. My Husband and I have the app on our phones and on our spare/old phone. And it’s been great as we can use that solely as the baby monitor.
Out of all the camera/monitors I looked at getting I’m glad we landed on this one.

Horrible ever since recent app updates

For such an expensive camera, the app should work much better. Always has a lag and now ever since the last update it freezes constantly. Also since the last update, if I have it set to the dual monitor setting, the sound gets all glitchy. So you can look at two cameras at once but have to mute one of them for the sound to work properly which defeats the purpose at nighttime so I still have to have one open on two different devices to hear both of my children during the night. It’s extremely frustrating especially for how much it cost to purchase two of these cameras.

Love it love it love it

I’ve had this camera for years since my child was a baby! I still remember before buying this I was a using an old iPhone as the baby monitor and it just doesn’t do the job. Cubo has saved us from SO much anxiety, the A.I. took some great photos of moments that we never even noticed, and has gone with us to so many places! To this day with my 6 yo we still use it as a home monitor and just check up on him when he’s in his room playing on his own. If I did to all over again I would’ve chose cubo still without a doubt. You won’t regret it and it’ll last you a life time!

Unreliable so buy something else

When it works, it’s the best camera out there. Unfortunately actual camera works about half the time, and playback feature hasn’t worked at all for a couple months now. App updates have not been effective in fixing the bug. You can’t depend on it to be connected at any given time night or day therefore you don’t know if your baby is monitored or not. Have two and been customers for nearly three years and this app and connectivity issues have gotten worse, not better, over time. Liked it enough after baby 1 to get a second monitor. As of today though, wish we’d invested in a different product. In fact we have had to use non-WiFi, LeapFrog monitors in tandem with these for over the last year as back up bc they never “disconnect.”

Very basic

3/20 update: Finally Picture in Picture mode added! Changed review to 5 stars. One day I hope to get a web interface for monitoring on a pc but that’s probably unlikely and doesn’t affect how the app functions.

12/25 update: still NO Picture in Picture mode. This app makes your phone useless while monitoring your baby. This is a basic iOS feature. Removing a star after every update that this isn’t added. Please add Picture in Picture mode like every other video app on Apple devices. It’s frustrating that you can’t leave the app and still see the video.

Do not recommend

Two stars because like other users, I find this app is amazing…when it works (about half the time). This was really stressful when we brought a newborn home and half the time the app said there was no connection despite other devices working fine. About a year later, it’s still the same. Customer support is polite but hardly helpful. I can’t wait to purchase a new monitor should we have the need for one. I would not recommend this product at all.

Not the best baby monitor out there

We’ve had this monitor for a couple years and the functionality is hit or miss.

The rewind / forward function does not work properly. It’s supposed to allow you to move forward or backward in increments of 15 seconds, but often it will keep moving you back to the same place you started.

Our current issue is that the video is spotty, it plays for a bit and then pauses so you can’t see a continuously moving video.

Frustrating

App updates constantly break features I rely on and I spend more time than I would like trying to get the camera to reconnect which is frustrating.

I think part of the issue is that I was grandfathered in to a lot of features that are now premium and have been slowly stripped of things I love about the product.

I would not recommend this brand after 3 years of having used their products.

Unreliable

We’ve used this app for over a year now and it’s gotten worse and worse. Twice in the last two weeks we’ve had to go into our daughters room after we’ve put her down to set up our RF travel monitor (waking our toddler fully up) because the camera wouldn’t connect. Unacceptable.

Connectivity was much more reliable a year ago. Please roll your build back a year, fire your head of engineering and stop adding features if you can’t thoroughly test them.
