UPDATE, 7yrs later: after 7 years of being scratched by at least four cats daily, we are finally retiring this cat tree and buying another. They have shredded the fabric to the point that you can see the wooden post underneath on all four sides. We will be replacing it with the exact same cat tree, since 7 years for 50 bucks is a pretty good deal. Highly recommended.

UPDATE, 5 yrs later: Today we disassembled the post and flipped it around so the cats could claw a fresh area. It took about 30m. Take the caps off the top and the bottom, flip the post, and reassemble. You will need to re-drill the holes in the top cap, they will be just slightly off. But now the cats have a fresh area to destroy. When it begins to shred in about 5 more years, I suppose we will buy a new cat tree.

Original Review @ 3 yrs: Our (this) scratching post is now 3yrs old. It has been subjected to daily abuse by 4 adult cats. Still going strong! I periodically trim all the loose hairs to keep it from shedding as much onto the floor. All of my cats use it and it has kept them from clawing the furniture.
