You really do get what you pay for. There are a lot of cheap options for shoe racks out there and the cheaper ones are flimsy and don't hold shoes without them falling off. These shoe racks are so incredibly sturdy, easy to assemble (don't require any tools), and if you buy more than one there are a multitude of ways to put them together to make custom shelving. The material they are made of is very strong and the little added pieces, like the rubber caps to seal the exposed metal parts, fit snugly in place and can still be removed easily later if you want to re-expose the metal holes to attach multiple racks together. Over-all I'm very impressed and would highly recommend spending the few dollars more to get a shoe rack that you'll actually be able to use and will hold any type and size of shoe. The slats are close enough together and thick enough that they can hold heels as well as flat shoes. Also, they could be used for general organization, not just for shoes. I'm purchasing more now that I see how versatile they are. Right now they hold shoes and since they will hold up over time, I know I can use them in different configurations in the future if I move and have different shaped closet space or different needs.
