although I understand the answer to this question depends on how often the lounger is used, but how long do these typically last?

I would say it depends on how many cats are using it as well, we have 9 cats and probably 1/2 of them use it. You can keep flipping it over to keep wear even on both sides, i'd say in 6 months ours starts to look a bit worn but still has plenty of life left in it. I'd say if you keep it clean and brush the cardboard off it you can keep it looking nice for a year and it will probably last a year beyond that. Basically they can keep clawing down through the cardboard layer by layer and it's well over 1 1/2 inches of cardboard.
You can expect between 10-12 months with 2 cats using it. I sliced my figure 8 style cat scratcher in half with a circular saw and gained another 8-10 months. (or more)
(this one just needs to be flipped later on)
For my cat, it takes about 6 - 9 months before it starts to look worn out. But even when it's worn out, my cat still goes to the old one out of habit, even tho she has a replacement.
My cat is small, about 10 pounds, and uses the scratcher all the time. He is constantly playing, lounging, and scratching it. I've had it for about 6 weeks and there is hardly any noticeable wear. There is one spot I sprayed some catnip oil and he licked it, that is the only spot that is noticeably used. I'm sure it will last a long time, and you can flip it over.
4 cats. I just checked my history & I order 2 new ones every 9 to 12 months (I flip them). I have one upstairs & downstairs. Used to use the smaller version (great & my cats are in 2 of the early photos) but more cats = bigger lounger.
My two cats have had this model for about 1.5 years and it's still going. I might want to replace it because I think it is worn but the cats have no issues with it. They have one that is about 3 and they use that one too. I think the larger the cat, the more often you'd need to replace because my small to medium aggressive scratchers can't seem to make too many dents in it
I am on here looking to finally replace our petfusion. According to Amazon, I purchased the current one that we have 5 years ago. Cats still use it multiple times a day for scratching and laying. Definitely showing signs of being well, loved but they still use it constantly.
