Glenda Sims

Chief Information Accessibility Officer (CIAO) & Strategic Consultant

Glenda is the CIAO at Deque, where she shares her expertise and passion for the open web with government organizations, educational institutions, and companies ranging in size from small business enterprise. Glenda is an adviser and co-founder of AIR-University (Accessibility Internet Rally) and AccessU. She serves as an accessibility consultant, judge, and trainer for Knowbility, an organization whose mission is to support the independence of people with disabilities by promoting the availability of barrier free IT. In 2010 Glenda co-authored the book InterACT with Web Standards: A holistic approach to Web Design.

Greg Williams

Vice President & Chief Program Architect

Greg is the Vice President & Chief Program Architect at Deque Systems, Inc. He oversees program development and operations for some of Deque’s largest customers, helping them to build mature, sustainable accessibility programs. Greg spent more than 30 years in the information technology field focusing on large, complex program operations for Fortune 40 companies and before that served in the United States Navy for a number of years. He had great success as the founder and owner of the Digital Accessibility Program Office for State Farm Insurance, building their practice from the ground up into one of the highest maturity level programs in the world between 2013 and 2018.

Vice President and Principal Strategy Consultant

Patrick is a Vice President and Principal Strategy Consultant at Deque. Patrick has worked in information technology for over 30 years. An experienced software engineer who is blind, Patrick deeply understands the technical challenges our customers and the disabled community face when it comes to accessibility. Coupled with his testing, team building, training and DE&I strengths, Patrick is a consulting force to be reckoned with. For the last eleven years, Patrick has been dedicated to promoting digital inclusion for all through awareness and the benefits digital equality brings to all users by sharing his own personal story of leading a digital lifestyle using multiple screen readers on both desktop and tablet platforms. Patrick’s accomplishments include accessibility lab and disability employee resource group establishment experience, US Patent holder for several bank products designed for the blind and his ability to influence at all levels of an organization’s business and technical teams.

Jim is the Director of Strategic Consulting at Deque System, Inc. He assists some of Deque’s largest customers in the strategic development of their digital accessibility programs. Prior to joining Deque, Jim spent 20 years in information technology at a fortune 30 company, 6 of those years serving as the product owner for their enterprise digital accessibility program. Since joining Deque in 2019 Jim has engaged numerous organizations across a variety of industries to help them move their digital accessibility programs to a more mature and sustainable state.

Emily is a Principal Strategy Consultant focused on helping organizations understand and execute the foundational elements necessary to create a sustainable, efficient, and successful accessibility initiative/program.  She joined Deque in August of 2019 and has helped dozens of organizations of all types and sizes create, execute, and mature accessibility practices and integrate accessibility in their culture, shared services, and software development lifecycle. Emily has past experiences in an accessibility program at a large Fortune 40 company with deep experience in accessibility program development, policy, statements, and procurement/sourcing strategies.

Matthew Luken

Vice President and Principal Strategy Consultant

For the four years prior to Deque, Matthew built out U.S. Bank’s enterprise-level Digital Accessibility program. He grew the team from two contractor positions to an overall team of ~75 consultants and leaders providing accessibility design reviews, automated / manual / compliance testing services, defect remediation consultation, and documentation / creation of best practices. In this program there were 1,500+ implementations of axe Auditor and almost 4,000 implementations of Deque University and axe DevTools. Also, Matthew was Head of UXDesign’s Accessibility Center of Practice where he was responsible for creating seamless procedures and processes that support the digital accessibility team’s mission & objectives while dovetailing into the company’s other Center of Practices like DEI, employee-facing services, Risk & Compliance, etc. He and his team’s work has been recognized by American Banker, Forrester, Business Journal, and The Banker.

Jenn Evans

Director of Strategic Consulting

Before joining Deque, Jenn spent over 12 years with Google. Since 2017, she held the role of Accessibility Program Manager focusing on release processes, change management, product, testing, and helping teams to build & sustain healthy accessibility programs.

Her passion for accessibility has also been demonstrated through education. Pulling upon her past roles in corporate training and her accessibility passion, she developed and delivered training to grow accessibility awareness within Google.  This – along with performing product assessments, heuristic evaluations, surfacing customer issues, creating accessible user support documentation, and starting a demo program – has enabled her to successfully lead teams responsible for creating experiences and products that are accessible and delightful.
