SOME BIG NAMES ARE TEACHING PEOPLE HOW TO WIN AT LIFE DURING A SYMPOSIUM FOCUSED ON SPORTS AND EDUCATION CALLED OASIS, KEVIN COLBERT, BILL HILLGROVE AND DOCTOR KATHY HUMPHREY ARE JUST A FEW NAMES THAT ARE TEACHING PEOPLE LEADERSHIP SKILLS ON PITT’S CAMPUS. THIS WEEK. LEADERSHIP IS NEVER ABOUT YOU. IT’S NEVER A MONOLOGUE. IT’S ALWAYS A DIALOG. AND LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT THE IT IS THE ULTIMATE ACT OF SERVICE. THE FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF ORANGE ARROW, SEAN ROBINSON, IS LEADING THE EVENT FOCUSED ON SPORTS, EDUCATION AND INCLUSIVITY. WITH HELP FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH BUILDING CROSS-CULTURAL RELATIONSHIPS AND SO, BUILDING UPON THE SUCCESS OF BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE, WE SAW THE OPPORTUNITY TO USE SOME OF THOSE TACTICS TO ENGAGE THE ADULTS IN THIS SPACE, AND PARTICULARLY IN SPORTS AND EDUCATION COMMUNITIES. ORANGE ARROW COACHES STUDENT ATHLETES, LIFE SKILLS SO THEY CAN HAVE SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE FIELD IN WHATEVER FIELD YOU’RE IN. LIKE YOU NEED TO BE CLEAR ABOUT THEM. YOU NEED TO YOU NEED TO MODEL THEM, BRING BACK UP THE THINGS I THOUGHT WERE IMPORTANT IN ATHLETIC TRAINING, LIKE TREATING YOUR ATHLETES AS INDIVIDUALS, MAKING SURE THEY KNOW THAT YOU CARE, CREATING A SAFE SPACE BECAUSE ONE PART OF IT IS DEALING WITH THE INJURIES AND THINGS. BUT THERE IS THE WHOLE OTHER SIDE OF IT WHERE THE ATHLETE IS A PERSON. THE EVENT, CALLED OASIS, STANDS FOR ORANGE ARROW SYMPOSIUM IN SPORTS, AND IT’S NOW HELPING ADULTS. IT BRINGS A LOT OF MINDS TOGETHER TO SAY THERE’S NOT ONE WAY TO CREATE A WINNING CULTURE. THERE ARE WAYS THAT MAY FIT YOUR ORGANIZATION THAT DON’T FIT ANOTHER ORGANIZATION. BUT TO GIVE BEST PRACTICES AND FIND OUT THE ART OF THE POSSIBLE, WHY NOT LEARN IT SPECIAL? SO TO GET ALL THESE FOLKS TOGETHER UNDER ONE ROOF AND REALLY BRAINSTORM AND PUT TOGETHER IDEAS AND ACTUALLY HAVE AN ACTION PLAN BEHIND THEM, IS JUST AWESOME TO SEE.
