Milwaukee police Wednesday afternoon found and arrested a man who officers fired at Tuesday night.
Police said detectives in an unmarked car saw the suspect grab another person and point a gun at the person's head near Hopkins and Locust streets.
The detectives stopped and ordered the suspect to get on the ground while identifying themselves as police.
The man pointed his gun at the detectives, who then fired toward the suspect, police said. Police confirmed the suspect did not shoot at them.
The 28-year-old then ran from the area. As previously reported, at that time, MPD did not believe that the suspect was injured.
Police found the man at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday near 37th and Locust streets.
They determined he had been shot and had a non-fatal gunshot injury. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The detectives involved in the case are a 50-year-old man with more than 16 years of service and a 40-year-old man with more than 10 years of service. Both detectives will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in an officer involved shooting.
WISN 12 News obtained surveillance video from a gas station near the scene. In the video, one person runs across the street, followed by a second person. Moments later, one person reappeared, running and pointing a gun behind them. Police then enter the scene. (Seen below)
