What Will You Do?
Under the working title of Principal Financial Auditor, this position is part of the management of the Bureau’s Financial Audit Division. Under the mentorship of an experienced audit director, the Principal Financial Auditor performs responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
  • developing audit strategy and methodology;
  • preparing and reviewing working papers and findings in accordance with auditing and accounting standards;
  • ensuring audit work is complete and accurate to obtain sufficient and appropriate audit evidence;
  • reviewing and preparing communications related to the audit;
  • reviewing and writing reports that clearly communicate audit findings to a non-technical audience;
  • training audit staff in Bureau audit procedures, Governmental Accounting Standards Board Pronouncements, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, and other applicable standards; and
  • working to actively develop the skill and professionalism of audit staff, including team leaders.

Requirements Who Are You?
  • You are able to maintain strict nonpartisanship.
  • You possess a valid Certified Public Accountant license in Wisconsin.
  • You have past experience in financial and compliance audits of state or local governments.
  • You are able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • You are highly motivated, take initiative, and excel in meeting challenges.
  • You are able to think critically and synthesize data and information into logical conclusions.
  • You are able to develop positive working relationships with teammates and other colleagues.

  • You have a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience and 5 years of supervisory experience.

The NASACT Community

NASACT serves as the premier organization working to bring together state auditors, state comptrollers and state treasurers to cooperatively address government financial management issues. NASACT also manages two secretariats - the National State Auditors Association (NSAA) and the National Association of State Comptrollers (NASC). Both NSAA and NASC are included under the umbrella of NASACT’s budget and utilize staff hired by NASACT.
