HOW THEY’LL USE IT TO BE READY FOR ANYTHING. THIS BRAND NEW SHOOTING RANGE FOR MOORE NORMAN TECHNOLOGY CENTER HAS SOME REALLY ADVANCED CAPABILITIES, LIKE THESE CHARGING TARGETS, AND THEY SAY IT’S THE NEXT STEP IN TRAINING A NEW GENERATION OF OFFICERS. IF THEY HAVE TO SHOOT FROM UNDERNEATH A CAR, UNDERNEATH SOME TYPE OF BARRIER AT A SUSPECT. THIS IS WHAT THIS IS HOW WE TEACH THEM TO DO THAT. OFTEN AT CRIME SCENES WHERE A SUSPECT IS BARRICADED, OFFICERS TAKE COVER LIKE THIS BEHIND CARS AND AROUND CORNERS. BUT HOW DO YOU TRAIN FOR THAT? IT IS A FULL 50 YARD, UH, RANGE FROM NEW CLASSROOMS TO GUN RANGES AND A PLACE TO CLEAN GUNS. MOORE, NORMAN TECHNOLOGY CENTER IS MAKING SURE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT CAN TRAIN ACCURACY IN ANY SITUATION. I’M GOING TO SHOOT A COUPLE OF ROUNDS FROM THREE DIFFERENT TWO ROUNDS FROM THREE DIFFERENT, UM, PORTS. SINCE 2020. THEY’VE OFFERED STATE CERTIFIED TRAINING IN THEIR BASIC PEACE OFFICER COURSE. BUT THIS IS THEIR NEWEST UPGRADE. WE HAVE DIFFERENT PROGRAMING. WE CAN DO TO SIMULATE RED AND BLUE LIGHTS THAT THEY MAY ENCOUNTER ON DURING LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS. ON NIGHT SHIFT, THE TARGETS WILL PROGRESS AWAY AND TWO, THEY’RE ON A TROLLEY SYSTEM SO THEY WILL PROGRESS AWAY FROM YOU OR TO YOU DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION. AND FOR LOCAL DEPARTMENTS LIKE MOORE PD, THOSE NEW TRAINEES ARE CRUCIAL, BUT THE SHOOTING RANGE IS ALSO OFFERED UP TO THEIR MORE EXPERIENCED OFFICERS FOR FREE, NOT JUST THE NEW OFFICERS COMING IN, BUT ALSO OUR INCUMBENTS. WE CAN TRAIN IN LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS WHENEVER WE DON’T HAVE TO WAIT FOR JUST ODD HOURS OF THE DAY ANYMORE. THE NEXT CLASS OF CADETS STARTS IN AUGUST, AND WE’LL GET TO USE THIS FACILITY AFTER THE GRAND
