INVESTIGATORS ARE REMAINING TIGHT LIPPED TONIGHT. RIGHT? YEAH. CHANTELLE, A LOT OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ON THIS ONE. BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW, RIGHT NOW IS THAT THE GRADY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RESPONDED TO A HOME IN CHICKASHA FOR A WELFARE CHECK WHEN THEY FOUND A BODY. FROM THERE, THEY TURNED OVER THE INVESTIGATION TO FEDERAL AGENTS. NOW, THE GRADY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOUND THAT BODY WHILE RESPONDING TO A WELFARE CHECK ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 92, IN CHICKASHA. THAT HOME IS JUST ONE MILE AWAY FROM FRIEND PUBLIC SCHOOL. THE GRADY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CALLED IN THE FEDS AFTER REALIZING THE CASE MAY BE TRIBAL. THEY TELL ME THEY STAYED AT THE SCENE UNTIL INVESTIGATORS WITH THE FBI SHOWED UP. BUT THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, ALONG WITH THE OKLAHOMA STATE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, IS ASSISTING IN THIS CASE. NOW, A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE FBI TELLS US THEY ARE INVESTIGATING IT AS A SUSPICIOUS DEATH, BUT THEY COULDN’T RELEASE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ON WHAT HAPPENED. IF THEY’RE LOOKING FOR A PERSON OF INTEREST AND HOW LONG THE BODY HAD BEEN THERE, THEY ALSO COULDN’T SAY HOW THE PERSON DIED OR IF IT WAS TARGETED. WHAT THEY DID RELEASE WAS THAT THEY DON’T CURRENTLY HAVE ANYONE IN CUSTODY, BUT THAT THERE ISN’T A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC. NOW. AGAIN, GUYS, A LOT OF UNKNOWN WITH THIS ONE AT THIS TIME, BUT WE’RE STILL WAITING FOR MORE ANSWERS FROM AGENTS. AND ALSO WHEN WE WERE AT THAT SCENE EARLIER, A LOT OF THE NEIGHBORS IN THE AREA STILL WANTED TO TO KNOW WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED WITH THIS. There are more questions than answers after the Federal Bureau of Investigation took over a suspicious death investigation following the discovery of a body in a home near Chickasha late Monday.
After realizing the case might be tribal, the sheriff’s office called the FBI and stayed at the scene until agents arrived.
A spokesperson with the FBI said they are investigating it as a suspicious death, adding that they don’t have anyone in custody and there is no danger to the public. No other information was released.
