IT’S IN A NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR AT WATER WORKS PARK. THAT’S WHERE WE FIND KCCI MARCUS MCINTOSH LIVE AND MARCUS ORGANIZERS ARE TAKING THE FEELS LIKE TRIPLE DIGIT FORECAST. REALLY SERIOUSLY. THEY ARE JODI AND LAURA, THIS IS THE 15TH YEAR, AS YOU MENTIONED, THAT THE OF THE 8035 MUSIC FESTIVAL, ITS FIRST RIGHT HERE IN ITS NEW HOME AT WATERWORKS PARK, A BIGGER VENUE, GIVING THE FESTIVAL WHAT IT NEEDS TO CONTINUE GROWING. THEY’RE EXPECTING A LOT OF PEOPLE THIS WEEKEND, AND FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ARE GOING TO BE SOME HOT DAYS, BUT ORGANIZERS ARE CONFIDENT THEY’RE READY TO HANDLE THOSE WARMER DAYS AHEAD THIS YEAR. THE 80 OVER 35 MUSIC FESTIVAL HAS PICKED UP AND MOVED TO WATERWORKS PARK, A CHANGE FROM ITS LONGTIME HOME IN THE WESTERN GATEWAY PARK. WE KNEW THE FESTIVAL WAS KIND OF OUTGROWING THAT AREA ANYWAY, ANDY BOEKHORST IS THE INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE GREATER DES MOINES MUSIC COALITION. HE SAYS THIS NEW LOCATION IS A MOVE FOR THE FUTURE. WE HAVE SPACE TO GROW. WE HAVE SPACE FOR PARKING. WE HAVE SPACE FOR CAMPING. YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL STAGE THAT IS HERE NOW. IT’S JUST A MUCH BETTER PLACE FOR US TO DO THE FESTIVAL SETUP IS WELL UNDERWAY ON A MUGGY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THOSE INVOLVED SAY A FORECASTED WEEKEND OF HOT WEATHER IS NOT TAKING THEM BY SURPRISE. 8035 IS ALWAYS IN JULY. IT’S JULY IN IOWA. WE KNOW IT’S GOING TO BE HOT, THE PROJECT MANAGER TELLS US. THE TREES AT WATERWORKS PARK WILL OFFER SHADE. IF YOU START TO FEEL THE HEAT, THERE WILL BE A HAMMOCK VILLAGE IN THIS AREA TO CHILL OUT. AND OF COURSE, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF GOOD OLD H2O. OBVIOUSLY WE’RE IN WATERWORKS PARK. WE HAVE LOTS OF WATER HERE, LOTS OF WATER FILL STATIONS, FREE WATER EVERYWHERE. SMOLAK ALSO HAS A TIP FOR THOSE WHO PLAN TO ENJOY ADULT BEVERAGES. IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE PARTY AND YOU’RE DRINKING ALCOHOL, WE SUGGEST WHAT WE CALL A SPACER TO HAVE A BOTTLE OF WATER IN BETWEEN EACH CAN OF BEER. IT REALLY HYDRATES YOUR SYSTEM. THE 8035 MUSIC FESTIVAL IS THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SATURDAY, RATHER SANDWICHED BETWEEN A BRANTLEY GILBERT CONCERT ON THURSDAY AND A LUDACRIS CONCERT ON SUNDAY. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON 8035, LOG ON TO 80 DASH 35.COM. WE’RE LIVE AT WATERWORKS PARK IN DES MOINES. I’M MARCU

"We have space to grow. We have space for parking. We have space for camping," said Andy TeBockhorst, of the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition.

But at least one constant issue is following the festival to its new home.

"80/35 is always in July. It's July in Iowa, we know it is going to be hot," TeBockhorst said.

Water Works Park offers large mature trees that Western Gateway Park does not. The project manager said the trees at Water Works Park will offer shade if attendees start to feel the heat. There will be a hammock village area to chill out. And of course, there will be a lot of good old H2O.

"Obviously we are in Water Works Park. We have lots of water here. Lots of water fill stations. Free water everywhere," said Tom Zmolek, 80/35 project manager.

Zmolek also offered a tip for those who plan to enjoy adult beverages.

"If you are here for the party and drinking alcohol. We suggest what we call a spacer to have a bottle of water in between each can of beer. It really hydrates your system," he said.
