The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. set to give the film a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release. We had previously heard that this movie would be filming in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but apparently they’ll be doing some work across the pond as well, with filming scheduled to take place in London, England from September 10th through October 10th this year. Industry scooper Daniel Richtman has gotten his hands on a casting call that reveals some details on a few supporting characters that will be required on the set in London.
We don’t have any plot info on The Conjuring: Last Rites at this time, all we know that the story takes place in the United States in the 1980s, but thanks to Richtman and the casting call we know about these characters:

Paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) are suiting up to investigate what could be their final case. Warner Bros. has set a September 5, 2025 release date for The Conjuring 4, which is said to be the final installment of the main series.
The untitled Conjuring movie is set to be directed by Michael Chaves, who is no stranger to the franchise. He helmed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, as well as The Nun II. Chaves also directed The Curse of La Llorona, which is often mistakenly included in the franchise. While the film has several notable connections to The Conjuring Universe (including an Annabelle easter egg and Tony Amendola reprising his role as Father Perez), Chaves confirmed last year that it’s not part of the franchise.
“There’s so much debate about it and I think I’ve played coy in the past,” Chaves said.

The end of the Conjuring story is now in sight. New Line has set a Sept. 5, 2025, release date for the untitled fourth Conjuring movie, which the studio is billing as a finale for the main set of films.
Michael Chavez is directing the movie after helming 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. He is a Conjuring mainstay, also known for the 2023 Conjuring spinoff, The Nun II. Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick penned the script.
James Wan helmed the original The Conjuring, which bowed in 2013 and earned nearly $320 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. The series centers on supernatural investigators Ed and Lorrain Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Combined with its spinoff movies, the franchise has grossed more than $2 billion globally. In addition to the Conjuring and Nun movies, the universe has launched a series of Annabelle features, focused on a doll first featured in The Conjuring.

There are currently eight films in The Conjuring Universe, and as we recently learned, a ninth movie is actively in development. Last we heard, Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II) is returning to the franchise to direct The Conjuring 4, which is reportedly said to be the final installment in the main series of The Conjuring movies.
The Conjuring 4 will release in theaters September 5, 2025.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are both expected to return.
David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring 2) wrote the screenplay for the fourth movie. Franchise mainstays James Wan and Peter Safran are on board to produce.

The Conjuring 4 – which, last we heard, was going by the title The Conjuring: Last Rites – is expected to be the final installment of the series at the heart of the Conjuring Universe… but it’s only the ending when it comes to big screen feature films. Fourteen months ago, it was announced that a The Conjuring TV series is in the works at the Max streaming service, and now Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max content, has confirmed that the show is still in development.
When asked what’s in the HBO and Max pipeline, Bloys told Variety, “One of the advantages that I think we have as a company, putting aside HBO for a second, is all the Warner Bros. IP. So after House of the Dragon, the next big tentpole series that we have coming up will be The Penguin with Colin Farrell. That...

Remember how the first Aquaman came out and was a colossal success? It really seemed like everything was finally on track for the character after years of jokes and abuse. Then tragedy…or well…insanity struck. The sequel was plagued with reshoots, scheduling conflicts, and an ever-changing landscape of the Dceu. Plus there’s the Amber Heard of it all, which has grown increasingly complicated. Today on DC Revisited, we’re getting into it all, as we dive into James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Before the first Aquaman had found massive success, Warner Bros was already hard at work on developing a sequel. Jason Momoa himself pitched a story to the studio, wanting to be more involved in the sequel’s development. This makes sense as Momoa really was the face of Aquaman and had shifted the perception of the character from a blonde man in tights...

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is both a direct sequel to 2018’s Aquaman (also directed by Wan) and also the fifteenth and final film in the Dceu (the DC Extended Universe). As such, it does the occasional bit of floundering, but it just about treads water, thanks to a mostly seaworthy plot and suitably salty character work.
The plot picks up a few years after the events of the first film, with Arthur Curry / Aquaman (Jason Momoa) now married to Mera (Amber Heard), raising a young son, Arthur Jr. and dividing his time between ruling as the King of Atlantis (complete with shiny orange armour), and fighting crime on the surface world. The Lost Kingdom is now inside of your home, as “Aquaman 2” swims to streaming on Feb. 27.
The Jason Momoa-led superhero sequel will be available to watch on Max just two months after it debuted in theaters over the Christmas holiday.
The film — which also stars Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Randall Park and Dolph Lundgren — follows Momoa’s oceanic stud as he once again goes up against Black Manta, who threatens to unleash an evil and ancient force using the Black Trident. Aquaman teams up with his half-brother Orm, the former king of Atlantis, to put aside their differences and save their underwater world from permanent destruction.
“Aquaman 2” floundered at the box office, collecting only $123 million domestically and $433 million worldwide. Compare that to 2018’s “Aquaman,” which raked in $335 million in the U.S. and Canada alone (and more than $1.1 billion globally).

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are naturally expected to return as Ed and Lorraine Warren, with production looking to start shooting this summer in Atlanta. Plot details are being kept under wraps at this point, but a few ghostly apparitions and demonic possessions are a good bet.

New Line’s The Conjuring movie series is coming back for one last ride. Or one last rite, as it were.
The project, operating currently under the simple title of The Conjuring 4, has been in the works since early last year but has finally landed on a director. And it’s a familiar visage.
Michael Chaves, who helmed the previous installment, 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, is in negotiations to direct what is being eyed as the fourth and final outing. The move makes Chaves a true Conjuring Universe player as he also directed last year’s spinoff, The Nun II.
David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who co-wrote the third installment with franchise creator James Wan, penned the screenplay.
Wan is producing with Peter Safran.

Heads-up, landlubbers. This article contains major spoilers for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."
Let's talk about trash. No, that's not a reference to the pretty dismal reviews for the latest "Aquaman" sequel, which has ended the DC Extended Universe with more of a whimper than a bang. (Although /Film's review by Rafael Motamayor generally lands on the more positive end of the spectrum.) Rather, this is in reference to one major oversight from the 2018 movie that director James Wan has finally set right this time around. For all its fairly obvious missteps, "The Lost Kingdom" actually improves on its predecessor in one specific way that few DC films -- and superhero movies in general -- have ever even attempted. And it has to do with pesky humans making this world a worse and worse place to live by the minute.
Despite what a vocal minority of fans might have you believe,...

Despite seeming to take small steps forward with both The Flash and Blue Beetle earlier this year, the DC Extended Cinematic Universe (Dcecu) suffers a calamitous setback with the arrival of the atrocious sequel to 2018’s Aquaman – Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
The bewildering and often aimless story within Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is concentrated primarily on the exploits of David Kane as he searches for the means to defeat Aquaman in the most brutal and destructive way possible. This forces Aquaman to make peace with his brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson), to have even a remote chance at stopping Black Manta before he causes catastrophic ecological destruction to the planet.
While the first Aquaman film tread water between mediocre and awful, the sequel dives deeper into the morass of convoluted plot tangents and overblown villains that have plagued the Dcecu since inception. Working with a story penned by himself,...

One of the most amusing bits of the 2000s HBO sitcom Entourage was the fake movies that existed within the TV show. While protagonist Vincent Chase was fictional, the Hollywood he moved through was not. Real actors playing versions of themselves cameoed as they helped build Chase’s fictional movie star career, with each faux film working as a parody of some trend or fad at the time. The most infamously pointed of these was Aquaman, a phony superhero flick designed to poke fun at the recent Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie.
I thought about that gag for the first time in years while watching Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom this holiday weekend, and not just because it also revolved around DC’s most waterlogged superhero, Arthur Curry. James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a minimum viable product, plopped into the theater with an apathy as pervasive and all-encompassing as the ocean itself. Despite being the successor to a film that got over with fans on the strengths of some big creative swings, Aquaman 2’s job is to simply exist—the last cynical hope of squeezing a few nickels out of the unsalvageable mess that is Warner Bros.’s last decade of superhero movies.
There’s some logic to the approach. Disconnected from having to exist as part of a larger universe, the film keeps things nice and tidy, demanding nothing of viewers. Despite some wild gesticulating toward the idea of Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) as a bro-ey husband and father to an adorable newborn, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’s central concern is that Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) still wants revenge for Aquaman...

What started with Zack Snyder and "Man of Steel" is concluding with Jason Momoa's second solo turn as Arthur Curry in order to make way for the forthcoming DC Universe reboot, which is being headed up by James Gunn and Peter Safran. But does that mean it all ends as soon as the credits roll? Or does director James Wan have a little something extra for us?
Credits scenes have been very present in the Dceu, and even though there aren't any more movies to set up in this version of the universe, that doesn't mean a credits scene of some kind can't help put a button on the whole thing. So, can you leave as soon as the credits begin?...

However, there’s an old enemy waiting in the wings,...

In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, directed by James Wan and written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Jason Momoa reprises his role as Arthur Curry, diving back into the deep and turbulent waters of superhero cinema. With an ensemble cast including Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Randall Park, Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison, the film navigates through a series of high-stakes conflicts, both personal and global. However, it’s not just the seas that are stormy; the film itself walks a messy path of narrative and visual execution.
Arthur aka Aquaman’s latest adventure kicks off with him recounting a daring hostage rescue to his son, Arthur Jr., followed by a montage of his life post-first film. As king of Atlantis and Queen Mera’s (Heard) husband, he navigates royal duties and family life, discovering his son’s unique ability to communicate with fish. Meanwhile, his nemesis, David Hyde (Mateen II) aka Manta,...

It’s fitting that “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is about a dying world that can’t be bothered to save itself, as this goofy but half-hearted sequel — a damp shadow of James Wan’s deliriously fun 2018 original, which grossed more than a billion dollars at the height of the superhero boom — is the orphaned child of a cinematic universe that was abandoned at sea while this movie was still in the womb. Greenlit at a time when it seemed like Jason Momoa’s Atlantean surf-himbo might be light enough to buoy the rest of the Dceu, “Lost Kingdom” is being released in theaters as the product of a conglomerate that didn’t exist when production began, and under the banner of a newly formed studio that didn’t have any use for it by the time production ended. For DC Films, Aquaman was the future; for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios,...

There’s a popular meme, spread across various social media platforms, where users upload a photo or video of themselves engaging in a series of increasingly ridiculous poses or actions. It’s accompanied by variations of the phrase “Never let them know your next move” — a cheeky imperative warning against predictability. Unlike participants in this trend, the team behind Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom isn’t afraid of doing what’s expected. They seem to prefer it.
James Wan’s sequel to his 2018 blockbuster Aquaman is frustratingly committed to formula. There are few surprises in this story of how Jason Momoa’s Arthur balances the responsibility of ruling his underwater kingdom with the challenges of parenthood. There are even fewer inspired moments in the screenplay, which moves between clunky exposition laying out more Atlantis lore and a string of punchlines in search of a joke. Somewhere in there, screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick...

A third "Orphan" film is already in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and it's set to have a wild twist on par with the first two bonkers horror movies. THR caught up with William Brent Bell, who directed "Orphan: First Kill," to discuss his new movie "Lord of Misrule." Along the way, the filmmaker spilled the beans about the future of "Orphan," saying, "As long as we get excited about the stories, there are so many directions to go, and we're developing a third one now."
Details about the threequel are scarce at this point, and Bell didn't note exactly who's returning for the next installment of the killer "kid" franchise, but he did imply that certain major story moments have already been dreamed up. "David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who created the first one, was very much involved in the second one, and he was like, 'The 'Orphan...

The fact that we received a prequel to the 2009 thriller Orphan in 2022 was mind-boggling – especially since the surprisingly entertaining Orphan: First Kill still starred Isabelle Fuhrman as Leena Klammer / Esther, an adult serial killer from Estonia who is able to pass herself off as a 9 year old kid. Looking 9 was easy for Fuhrman when she made the first movie, because she was a child at the time… but now she’s an adult, and the filmmakers had to try to figure out how to make her look like a kid again for the prequel. It worked well enough, and the movie went over well enough with viewers (you can read our review Here), that Orphan: First Kill director William Brent Bell is now developing Orphan 3!
While doing the press rounds for his new movie Lord of Misrule, Bell told The Hollywood Reporter, “I was surprised [by the warm reception of Orphan: First Kill], because it...

Exclusive: Warner Bros/DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hit three week tracking with an outlook of $50M-$60M for the four-day.
The James Wan directed sequel arrives in theaters on Dec. 22 and Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year. That means business for all movies will be off on Christmas Eve Sunday by -60% from Saturday with all pics spiking well over 100% on Monday. Moviegoing always picks up dramatically from Christmas Day onward.
While that projection may not seem amazing next, note that the first Aquaman only saw an opening weekend of $67.8M. The longer tail for the superhero fish when it came to ticket sales was in his week’s play: The movie in its first seven days cleared $137M plus previews stateside. Ultimately, Aquaman became the highest grossing Warner Bros DC movie of all-time at $1.1 billion worldwide. Granted that total included a massive haul in...

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" is arriving in December, bringing Jason Momoa back as Arthur Curry. It's been a full five years since the first "Aquaman" became the biggest DC movie ever. Now, James Wan is back behind the camera for another massive, globe-trotting adventure. Much has been made thus far of Amber Heard's Mera, who will be reprising her role in the sequel, albeit in a more limited capacity. She won't be a main character this time around. As for why that is? Wan has addressed it head-on.
In the December issue of Empire Magazine, the filmmaker spoke about the long-awaited "Aquaman" sequel and, specifically, touched on the Mera situation. During her highly public court case with her ex-husband Johnny Depp, Heard claimed her role in the sequel was a "pared-down version" of what she was originally pitched, and that the studio "didn't want to include her" following the divorce.

John Carpenter's "The Thing" is a movie so cold and miserable you feel it in your bones as you watch it.
Pitting a group of U.S. civilians at an Arctic research station against a shape-shifting alien that can convincingly imitate other living organisms, Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi/horror flick notoriously bombed upon its initial release in theaters. Over 40 years later, though, it's now justly regarded as a masterclass in genre filmmaking. With its incredibly gory practical creature effects (which are as gross as they ever were) and bleak-as-hell atmosphere, Carpenter's nihilistic exercise in paranoia has aged far more gracefully than the gung-ho Reagan-era entertainment the masses were flocking to at the time it was made.
As a film ahead of its time that would go on to find a much larger fanbase thanks to home media, it was inevitable that Carpenter's "The Thing" would return in some new form...

Apple TV+ has announced that they will be releasing the four-part documentary The Enfield Poltergeist – which tells about the case that served as inspiration for The Conjuring 2 – on October 27th, just in time for Halloween viewings. Along with that announcement comes the unveiling of a trailer for the docu-series, and you can check it out in the embed above.
According to Deadline, The Enfield Poltergeist relies on more than 250 hours of audio archive to help recreate the infamous events in Enfield. Throughout four episodes, the events at Enfield are reconstructed using the recordings captured by Maurice Grosse, a paranormal investigator who archived all of his interviews from back in the day. The doc built a replica of the council house where the incidents took place so performers could reenact what is heard on the tapes.
The docu-series also features appearances by people who were actually involved in the haunting case.

“I’m gonna kill Aquaman and everything he holds dear,” promises Black Manta in the trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. “I’m gonna murder his family and burn his kingdom to ash.”
Such boasts are par for the course among supervillains like Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and most people watching the trailer dismiss it as usual bad guy bluster. After all, the first Aquaman movie earned over $1 billion in 2018 because of its lighthearted tone. Director James Wan and writers David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall, working off a story they wrote with Wan and comics scribe Geoff Johns, crafted a fun script that took advantage of Aquaman’s role in the popular imagination and star Jason Momoa‘s undeniable charisma. Updated, 9:21 a.m.: Warner Bros on Thursday unveiled the first full-length trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the very long awaited sequel to the subaquatic James Wan superhero pic which remains one of DC’s biggest successes.
“Four years ago, I was basically unemployed, a wanderer with no home,” Jason Momoa’s title character proclaims in the segment. “But now, I’m a husband and a father. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
He’s now got a job, as well, looking after a kingdom of half a billion as King of Atlantis. But not everything comes easily for him in the sequel, as Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) returns in hopes of taking him out.

After a five-year wait, Aquaman is finally surfing into theaters once again. Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” heralding the return of Jason Momoa’s aquatic DC hero.
“Lost Kingdom” follows Momoa’s Arthur Curry, better known as the half human, half Atlantean hero Aquaman, now sitting on the throne of Atlantis. The sequel sees him team up with his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) to fight ruthless pirate Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).

After DC Studios finally released a teaser trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, now feels like the perfect time to return to the 2018 original that started it all. A full trailer for the sequel bubbles to the surface on Thursday, September 14, and we’re eager to discover Arthur Curry’s (Jason Momoa) next underwater adventure as we steadily transition to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted Dcu.
Aquaman always seemed to be one of those Superheroes getting clowned on. I mean, it makessense: on the surface, he’s just a man who can swim fast and talk to fish. It’s an easy thing to make

Doing reshoots isn’t anything unusual in modern Hollywood. However, sometimes they can be a bad sign that the movie has troublesome production, and that is certainly the case with the anticipated sequel to 2018’s DC movie ‘Aquaman.‘ ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ was initially announced as one of the most-anticipated DC movies since the original movie grossed over $1.1 billion, and it’s still the highest-grossing DC movie ever.
However, the production has been going on for so long. With each change of leadership at DC Studios and new plans for the future of the franchise, more reworks on the script have been made, which led to more reshoots, and let’s not forget that the movie still attracts controversies due to Amber Heard’s involvement amid the last year’s trial against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Five months before release, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ is still undergoing reshoots!

The script for a sequel to “The Flash,” DC’s next big superhero pic, is written. But given that DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting the entire DC universe starting with next year’s “Superman: Legacy,” will “The Flash 2” get made? The first film in the series has to pass the box office test first, but a follow-up is on the table according to insiders with knowledge of the project.
“The Flash” is currently tracking to open around $70 million at the domestic box office. However, the film will have to leg out and come close to what 2021’s “The Batman” grossed worldwide ($770 million) in order to get a sequel off the ground.

The world’s fastest superhero has ironically taken an incredibly slow pace to get to a release. The Flash has been delayed and ankle-deep in controversy when the film’s star became a PR nightmare for the studio with the various offenses Ezra Miller has been charged with. Finally, the film is about to hit theaters, and the studio has decided to keep Miller very low-key on the promotion circuit. Warner Bros. has even decided to limit the film to one premiere that is uniquely late in the time frame. However, the reason the studio has made this decision doesn’t seem to be Miller related.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. has decided to forgo additional worldwide premieres in favor of just one that will take place only four days before the film’s opening. For a big-budget tentpole summer blockbuster of this caliber, this is an unusual approach. This...

Coming out this month is the superhero speedster film, “The Flash,” starring the controversial figure Ezra Miller. And Warner Bros., following sub-par box office performances from recent releases like “Black Adam” and “Shazam! Fury of The Gods,” is really banking that the much-buzzed-about superhero flick will get a great reaction from audiences. Additionally, according to a report from Variety, a direct sequel is actually in the works with a script coming from screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and he has finished it.

“The Flash” is almost here, and the rollout has been anything but typical.
With just 13 days to go before the film’s June 16 release, titular star Ezra Miller has done no press and will make a low-profile appearance at the Los Angeles premiere on June 12, only posing for photos rather than doing interviews. The film’s director, Andy Muschietti, and cast members Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle and Michael Shannon will also hit the red carpet that will be missing the standard press gauntlet.
Typically, the star of a $190 million tentpole will promote the film in interviews across print, TV and oftentimes podcasts spanning multiple continents.
“Ezra wants the movie to open and the conversation to be about the movie and not about Ezra,” a source close to Miller explains. “They are focused on their mental health and don’t want it to be transactional.” (Miller uses they/them pronouns.)
