Good for nostalgia, and plenty of classic game modes and maps. Does exactly what it says by remaking the first two Tony Hawks games, and you know what to expect from that.

A fantastic adventure, wandering around several locations and photographing certain things in the world to solve puzzles and answer NPC questions.

A fantastic musical adventure. The only thing missing was a sprint button, and my biggest complaint was that there wasn't more of this game. Highly recommended.

Enough new content that it was worth a replay of Catherine, although not all of the new content hits the highs of the base game's main story, its definitely got more variety, player choice and character representation. Inclusivity is always a good thing.

Enjoyed playing some races. Came 1st through the bronze ranks. Online-only so doesn't have an end point to compare it against, but its a good way of firing up Fortnite during spare time to get some extra XP for the battle pass

This was a far cry from the previous game in the series. I enjoyed some aspects of the story and the characters (Clancy Brown always gives a great performance), but traversing Haven City was long and boring. Some missions were so frustrating and had difficulty spikes to the level that I used debug mode to skip parts of the game in order to progress the story.
A game that I was ultimately glad to see the back of when it was all done.

Semi-decent mix of a third person cover shooter and early Call of Duty. I believe this was Treyarch's last game before Call of Duty World at War, where they then started becoming a Call of Duty team.
This hits all the good story beats from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, and there were a few moments that shone out such as the poisoning, and the stairwell brawl agains the knife assailant.
If you like James Bond and are willing to put up with some janky cover mechanics, there's fun to be had within that universe here, but Id really recommend the modern Deus Ex games if you're wanting to experience good first person/third person cover stealth mechanics instead.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Having finished Persona 5 Royal last year, I really liked how a lot of the UI and style was carried over (but presented in its own different way). The story had its own set of strong characters, and an interesting beat and change of direction with the introduction of Ryoji. I would definitely recommend this game, but it does narrowly miss Persona 5 Royal's heights.
You could P5R had expansion content built into the base game which made the game even better though whereas P3R is a remake of a base game from the PS2. But it feels like it was executed well and aside from how its named, I could have believed it to be a new game if it had a subtitle and not a number.
I might have to go out my way to play FES or P3P from my backlog now to experience "The Answer" for more of the story of these characters.

When I first played Pokemon Black, I didnt enjoy it. The thought of having to learn an entirely new roster of Pokemon with none of my favourites from my previous generations being carried over into the base game, it was difficult to hook me in.
Fast forward a few years after beating Pokemon X, and playing some of the more modern offerings and finding that Pokemon Black/White deserve higher praise after the fact.
Firstly, this game is the twilight of the traditional style Pokemon game before a move into 3D and while SoulSilver feels like the definitive Pokemon game to me, Black is a close-second. The combat system is now at its peak through generations of refinement, the story is packed with post-game content that really ramps up on the difficulty. The only thing missing was the variety of Pokemon old and new that was seen in the fourth generation.
However, this was to its benefit at times. The Elite Four rinsed me on several occasions before I used a guide as I wasn't familiar with which secondary types these new Pokemon had, or how their movesets would impact me.
We also saw new wild Pokemon that drew upon series tropes. Tornadus, a Tornado Pokemon, would roam from route to route like an Entei or Raikou but would take the stormy weather with them.
This isnt a Pokemon game to be slept on and its understandable that there was enough material here for a sequel to be made. I won't go into the story in great detail, but Team Plasma replaces the Aqua and Magma feud from Emerald as being the biggest threat crime syndicate in the series
There's also two very different rivals again in this generation, so rather than a Green/Blue, Silver or May, a Barry/Paul style is incorporated. Bianca is all about fun, and chooses the starter yours is strong against, whereas Cheren wants to be the strongest trainer and chooses the starter strong against yours. At varying points in the story, you have to face off against your rivals as they develop their characters.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarBeat

I was shockingly pleasantly surprised by how good Black Ops Cold War is. It took a narrative akin and focused as the original Black Ops, with branching paths, narrative choices and player agency introduced in Black Ops 2 but on a larger scale. A short campaign but a thoroughly enjoyable and varied one. One mission in particular of the 12 campaign missions sees an undercover mole have the choice to use deception/charisma and try for a kill-free run to unlock a door that will let the main characters in to the base.
So many new and fresh campaign elements that weren't in previous Call of Duty games plus a truly new crisp looking interface and a wealth of accessibility options make this feel like the definitive Call of Duty experience thus far.

Batman: Arkham KnightBeat

Great story but the game has its flaws. It feels like alot of bloat was added to justify the game being "next gen" when compared to Arkham City. To do this, they added the batmobile, vehicular combat and chase sections. There were also puzzles that mandatorily required use of the batmobile and missions that wouldn't start unless you could transport your batmobile across a bridge that was currently locked. The premise and plot are fantastic though and definitely worth playing to the end. Combat is the tried and tested version from previous Arkham games, but with a little less emphasis on vent crawling for stealth attacks. Mandatory stealth is really only used to avoid turrets. So prepare yourself for a game thats slightly different from previous Arkham games. In some regards, it may even be a step backwards or sideways rather than forwards. But for the most part, its more of the same.

Imagine Stardew Valley but set in the stone age. I played in co-op and we all managed to help each other to the platinum trophy through giving ourselves roles, like a vocation. I started with crops, focusing on harvesting, crop knowledge, cooking and later brewing, and making uber moneymaking wine. It's very much like how I ended up playing Stardew. But there's plenty of things you can do, whether its tend animals for products, butchering (optional to turn off), fishing, and as the time progresses ingame and you contribute (the tribe's currency), you unlock new benefits and your tribe develops new technologies and techniques. Like Stardew, you also have romanceables and the ability to have your own kids too. A very good life simulation that is every bit as good as Stardew Valley, if not a little more than inspired by Stardew.
An extra positive is there's no combat, so its all in the life and adventure

I played this game shortly after Trine 2 Complete on PS4, and that came at its detriment. Graphically, Trine 4 is stunning and definitely a step up from the previous games (that I've played - Trine Enhanced and Trine 2 Complete). But aside from looking good and being a solid working game (physics glitches on puzzles aside), it slowly unravels as the game goes on. A lot of the mechanics, and more importantly, fun is taken away from the co-op modes. There was often times when I would watch youtube playthroughs to get through some tedious puzzles and find that there are multiple variants of the puzzles, meaning even guides aren't always reliable. Long levels, difficult puzzles and some of the more fun and creative puzzle solution skills are locked behind mandatory progression. It isnt pick and choose your own skills from the very start, but instead when the game dictates youve progressed or gained enough XP, making everything much more linear. A frustration for how long the levels are.
Additionally, the controls become frustrating as using a cursor to control your spells is gone, fully relying on aiming using flicks of the right stick. Simplified controls for newbies, perhaps, but less precise and feeling like a downgrade.
Worst of all comes at the end, where your skills and progression become meaningless for a fast-paced boss battle that relies on memorisation and timing. Often times my gaming cohort would say "and now he's about to go round in a circle". Of the three characters, one is now useful for dodging and one for the mandatory hack and slash damage dealing, a far departure from the rest of the game.
The experience has made me apprehensive to play Trine 3 which remains in my backlog, but has put me off further investing in Trine 5. This definitely felt like an instalment that struggled with a perceived need to innovate, and opted to both simplify the gameplay and make the game longer, which were an incompatible mix and focus on one would have been beneficial

A good Call of Duty campaign that felt like the last of the traditional "modern" COD games until MW 2019. Campaign unfortunately has a post-credits cliffhanger that will most likely no longer get a follow-up (hasn't received one within 10 years). Campaign has an emphasis on stealth tactics and infiltration missions. Especially enjoyable for those who view "All Ghillied Up" as one of the best CoD missions in history.
