Alan Wake 2 is a graphical masterpiece. Things i have not seen done since Sega CD. This game blends gameplay graphics with live action videos in a way i have never seen. The story is brilliant and can not wait to see what Remedy will do with the upcoming sequel to Control. This game is a challenge but not as hard as the first Alan Wake game. I was hesitant to spend the $60 on a digital only game but it was well worth the money. 10 out of 10 for me and should be nominated got Game of the year.
This was the first time we have played Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and it is amazing. This is Nintendo Story telling at its best. So this is my first time every playing this game.
First off, i am old enough to say i have owned every Nintendo System in the same era of their release. I missed several games from the GameCube era and this was one of those games that i missed.
Paper Mario:TTYD is a game that very well could define what a Mario video game could be. To think that we spent 36 hours on a Gamecube game was surprising and time flies when your playing good game.
The story of TTYD is incredible. While the Big N has had some extremely good stories this Paper Mario game ranks in my top 5 greatest Nintendo Stories ever told.
The Gameplay is very generous and feels like a starter JRPG in many ways. This game is not hard to Pick up and play.
After finishing Paper Mario there were some reasons to continue playing. So the story can continue if you want it to.
If you have never played a Paper Mario game and wonder which one is the best, Thousand Year Door is the best hands down. If you are a Nintendo fan or a RPG fan, Play this game.
To Nintendo, Please make a Paper Luigi game. This game shows that Luigi could have had another story to tell other than busting ghosts.
This was our second time playing the game. We loved this game just as much the second time as the first. This remastered version was good. Naughty Dog added some additional content under "The Making of" section that was pretty cool to see and play. The lost levels section was neat to play( 3 additional levels that were cut from the game). I wish more game companies would do this with there remastered or remade games. The enhanced graphics and Haptic feedback was decent on this version. Not great but decent.
I feel Overall this remastered Version of Last of Us part 2 is great if you want to relive the story, love the last of us story so far or if you never played it before. I believe i would have enjoyed it more the second time if they would have completely remade the game like they did for part 1. Now we have wait for that, Season 2 on Max, and wonder if Naughty Dog will ever finish the story.
This was a great addition to Final Fantasy series. You do not have to play any past games to get into this game. This game has a pretty good recap of the first game. However we both strongly suggest you play the first game, Final Fantasy 7: Remake before playing this. My wife and i enjoyed the story and are looking foreword to the third game of this series. Side content felt a little repetitive but some funny moments. There are tons of mini games that helps make the game feel like your not doing the same thing over and over agin. The piano was the hardest mini game and the best mini game in FF7:Rebirth was Queens Blood. Queens Blood could have been its own game entirely and we loved every second of it. We spent 116 hours on this game and did not feel like we spent that long on this game. If i could have ranked it a 9.5 i would have. What stopped me from ranking this game a 10 because because its not a complete story. While we knew going into Rebirth that the game was the second of a trilogy, the game ends making you feel like there is more to do. So far, this is one of our "Game of the Year" contenders. We highly recommend this game. 9/10
Side note: I do not why it says i reviewed this 6 months ago, i bought this game at launch.
Prince of Persia: Lost Crown is an amazing side scrolling platformer. This game was revolutionary for this genre or style of game. The story is fantastic, graphics(even on switch) was incredible, and 100% voice acted. What puts Prince of Persia: Lost Crown above other games of this genre is accessibility and gameplay. Anyone can play this game and there are features that can help you get through the hardest of platforming challenges. Ubisoft hit a home run with this game and if this is the direction this genre is going, i can not wait to see what the future will bring.
Pretty easy puzzle game for Mario fans. This has some great throwbacks for Donkey Kong fans and for Jumpman. The game was only a few hours long and for a $50 title i expected a little bit more. This game was okay but at the same time wished we had had a remake of Bowsers Inside Story instead.
It's SHOWTIME! What can we say about Princess Peach Showtime? Short and sweet about sums it up. We rolled credits around the 12 hour mark. At first, this game felt like a kids game and the controls are extremely simple. Some of the bosses were harder than others but once you figured out their pattern, they were done for. The story was okay and the lack of collectibles was this games weakness. We enjoyed our time with Princess Peach and Showtime is a great start for more solo adventures for years to come.
This was our first time playing Trace Memory. My wife and i enjoyed the part 1 better than Part 2. Part 1 was easier to predict than Part 2. The puzzles were mostly easy with the exception of 1 puzzle at the end of the first game cause it never taught you or told how to solve it. We looked at IGN guides for that solution. Both games have a restricted open world and talking everyone was mostly voice acted. This was a good story adventure game with light puzzle solving elements.
What can i say but wow. Atlus has done it again. This game can feel overwhelming at first. The game does a great job at explaining everything.
The is a open world JRPG that is very similar to tactics ogre. This is very much a strategy game were you set up teams and those team automatically fight. You basically state where you want your units/teams to go. What I liked most about this game was the story and how it was 100% voice acted. I was not expecting this after playing other games from Atlus like Persona 5. This is a great step forward for the future of Atlus games.
This is a great sequel to Oxenfree. I would highly recommend playing the first game before this one, however you do not have to. The game is 95% voice acted and its a game you can easily finish on a weekend. This is a narrative driven, open world adventure. There is no combat and some minor puzzle solving involved. If you like stories where yours choices matter, then i highly recommend this game.
Oxenfree is a narrative adventure where your choices matter and It is a 2D open island game. This is 95% voice acted with a dozen or so passages of reading. The story is about a bunch of teens sneaking out to an island to spend the night. You will have many conversations and your choices matter. Keep this in mind while playing the game. The only complaint i have about this game is during those conversations you only have a small window of time to choose your response. So some conversations ended up not being what i wanted to say or failed to press a button in time. Aside from that, the game is pretty straight foreword. In other words, there is a clear direction or directions on where to go. There is also a map to help you figure out where to go. Oxenfree is a short game and depending on your choices very entertaining. Have fun, be a smart *** and see if you have what it takes to survive the night. Good Journey!
This was a short but fun game. It reminded me a lot of Pokemon snap but better. Blended 2D game with a first person picture taking camera view. This was unlike any game i played before. This a puzzle photo adventure game that everyone should try.
This was the first time i played Dead Space and it did not disappoint. It played just like RE4 remake. I was skeptical about it cause i am not a huge fan of space themed games. The story felt a little weak and predictable but had fun playing through the story. The only bad thing about this game was there was not a hud map and having to press R3 constantly to figure out which way you had to go. When in zero gravity figuring out where to go was also an issue. Pressing R3 did the same thing but way more confusing. Still overall the game is a great third person shooter.
This was a great turn based RPG game. First, i have never seen One Piece anime but i have seen the Netflix live action tv show. So coming from someone who knows very little about this IP, i had a great time playing in this world. The biggest issue i personally had was that there was not an English dub or english voice acting. This was not a deal breaker for me but if there is voice acting in the game, i would like to hear what they are saying. So that being said, i really enjoyed this game. We spent 60 hours playing this with most side quests being completed. This game felt like a beginner RPG. The story was great for new and old fans. The game seems to rehash the main stories in One Piece series. So being new to the IP, i did not feel lost. If you like turn based RPG, give this a shot. Gum Gum Pistol!
Luigi's Mansion 2HD was a fun game but frustrating . This remake was harder than the first and third entry in Luigi's Mansion series. The only reason this game is difficult is due to a severe lack if Save Checkpoints which Nintendo first party games are usually pretty generous with. This game is mission based and while there are 5 different haunted locations you are required to return after every single mission. This was a minor annoyance for myself cause i did not really see a point in returning after every mission. The real problem i had was when you died. When you die on a mission you have to start all over again. None of the progression is saved. So if you spend 45 minutes on a level collecting coins and jewels and die on the boss, you lose everything. This is something that was frustrating in the original games and should have been fixed in this updated version.
This expansion DLC was excellent if you are a fan of Remedy games. If you have the deluxe game all you need to do it update the game to access expansion. The Night Springs Expansion is 3 separate playable episodes of Night Springs TV show written by Mr. Wake and Hosted by Mr. Door. In each episode you will play as different characters from the Remedy Game universe. No spoilers here but you play from 3 characters from 3 different games from Remedy games past. This was a real cool way to experience something different, Unique and unexpected after months of waiting for Night Springs DLC to release. Now we wait for The Lake DLC.
My wife and i liked this game. This was our first time playing Persona 3 and we were not disappointed. This was a interesting remake. This game is about 80% voice acted and that really surprised us. There was still some reading but a lot less then Previous Persona Games. The game length was shorter than P4 or P5 for us. We rolled credits around 85 hour mark.
The story was interesting enough to keep our attention. We scored this a 9 because of the voice acting, amazing animated cut scenes and overall story. The repetitiveness towards the end was the main reason this was not a Masterpiece for us. At the end it got slow and we had to push ourselves to finish it. Now there are two paths and if had chose to end the game early, we probably would not have felt this way. However we wanted the best ending and took longer then we both expected. This was still a solid game and we both enjoyed the game.
Stellar Blade was a interesting new IP to play. The combat took some getting use to. You can not button mash your way through the game. So there is a bit of a learning curve to combat. The characters could have used a little bit more individuality. The game was hard at times and died several times. Overall it was a fun game to play. My wife and i gave this game an 8/10. We both loved the music and felt it was different enough from the games like this. For a new IP, Stellar Blade feels like a great start for a new Franchise. We both hope there will be a sequel.
Penny's Big Breakaway was a game i was looking forward to but was quickly turned away from after playing. This is a game that wants you to run through it like a Sonic game. Let me rephrase, it forces you to run through the Game. How does it force you to run through each level? Well you have what feels like a million penguins chasing you constantly and the moment you stop to breath, here comes more out of no where. You can get rid of them but when you do, even more show up. Very frustrating when you are trying to complete a side quest, which is weird to have in the first place, when you are constantly being chased. I feel this game would be a lot better if it gave you time to enjoy the world that your in.
This was an interesting game. The story is not very easy to understand. This is a 2D platform puzzle game. This is pretty much a horror survival game as their is no way to combat any threats in the game. You pretty much have to run, jump and swim for your life. I finished the game in a few hours. If you like like games like Limbo or Little Nightmares, this game is for you.
