Animal Well has A+ exploration and very solid puzzles. It’s short with fun post-game exploration. I wish that there was a little more explanation of the tools but ultimately this was a fun time. Quite amazing that it came from one developer!
Fun, quick point and click adventure. Puzzles weren’t very difficult but that was fine with me, everyone can’t be Double Fine.
Anniversary addition is beautiful and I enjoyed most of the puzzles. Needed a guide for two of them but oh well.
The most incredible component of this edition is the developer commentary! Amazing conversations are included that discusses the programming, visuals, sound, etc. plus 13 new puzzles. The post-game was actually my favorite part.
Short adventure game with unique story and characters. I felt that the puzzles in the latter half were a bit obtuse but I still managed to complete them without a guide. Ben is a cool character!
Such a beautiful, fun game with a compelling story and characters. Great game design and it feels like so much love and care was given to make this a truly remarkable experience. Hope a sequel is made and sticks the landing to complete an amazing trilogy!
Super Mario Bros still holds up after all these years. It’s perfect for kids to pick up and super challenging toward the end. Highly recommend playing with rewind through Nintendo Switch Online, otherwise the difficulty becomes frustrating.
Cute, cozy, and short game about climbing up a mountain. Great for trophy hunters too.
Psychonauts 2 is one of the most creative games I’ve ever played. I love Raz and this adventure. It’s much more polished and enjoyable than Psychonauts 1 as this was made 20 years later. May be Double Fine’s finest game to date.
Super fun tactical RPG! It can be challenging in the beginning but once you optimize decks and character friendships it really opens up options. I enjoyed the story and thought the voice acting was good overall. Character models seem are a bit underwhelming but overall I love the gameplay loop.
I enjoyed the art, characters, and puzzles in general but it felt like something was missing that kept it from being a great game. I think the worlds felt somewhat small with fewer secrets to discover like in other Double Fine games? I’m glad to have played it and recommend it to others but not my favorite Tim Schafer game.
Another awesome Double Fine adventure game. I solved all the puzzles without a guide and it took about 11 hours, several of which were just trying out different solutions. Some puzzles seemed a bit obtuse but overall it was a blast.
Another great Picross
Picross 3D Round 2 is very entertaining but can be a little frustrating coming from the “normal” Picross games. I didn’t like points being dependent on number of mistakes and completion time as it sometimes made solving puzzles more stressful than relaxing. However, it’s packed with puzzles and I’ve spent dozens of hours working through them slowly. I definitely recommend with the caveat that it’s a bit of a departure from Jupiter’s version, which may be a good attribute for others.
Super fun and funny platformer! This game is a cult classic and I’m glad I experienced it. A few too many collectibles and it looks/feels dated but still a great game regardless.
What a relaxing game. May not be for everyone since the gameplay is really down to using a power washer to clean items/locations but I had a ton of fun with it.
Puzzle game with words/symbols, this hard for me at first but made more and more sense as I kept playing. Beautiful art direction and I’m so surprised it’s under 1 GB. Must play for fans that want a game that makes you think.
Played this through the Anniversary Collection. Pretty difficult game with stiff controls. Music and atmosphere are great and levels are just short enough that they weren’t too frustrating. Would not want to play this without save states or a rewind function though.
Beautiful puzzle game that I beat in one day because I couldn’t put it down. Loved how the character couldn’t die and all the puzzles were the perfect level of challenge in that they made me think but I never got stuck.
This was my first Shantae game and I have to say I enjoyed it. Shantae is a really likable character, the writing was humorous, and the gameplay was fun. The worlds and game were somewhat short but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Nothing groundbreaking here but a fun time.
