Great art design, sound design, and performance. All under 40 mbs which is impressive! Outside of that it’s your typical Metroidvania - I don’t get the massive hype around it. Mechanics are clearly borrowed from much older titles like Bubble Bobble and Star Tropics (yo-yo weapon). It’s a great homage to second and third gen titles similar to Fez and Braid but that’s about it. Overhyped.

Game looks and runs great. Combat is also a ton of fun but starts to becomes rather repetitive later in the game. Story is awful as is the flat and stilted dialogue. Some musical tracks are excellent while others left me confused as what was happening ing on screen didn’t match the tone of music. Play it but wait until it’s around $30.
Combat is great but the open world really pulls the whole experience down. Way too much for to point b from a then go back to b. The time period it’s set in is great but the story is let down by terrible dialogue and stilted voice acting.
Great open world adventures with a horrible story and increasingly repetitive combat as you fight the same handful of enemies every 5-10 seconds. With some cleaning up it could become a masterpiece. As of now, just a good game.
