Everything in this is top notch. The map is incredibly well thought out, and the hidden dual purpose design of the items you collect and how its usage when coming across puzzles is more of a knowledge check rather than a "I need this specific item to progress". The boss fights being less fighting and more of strategically avoiding them with the new item you got is great. The controls feel tight and responsive which makes platforming feel great and its nice how forgiving it is since you don't get much of a penalty if you fall in water.
The visuals and lighting are ominously alluring and is a nice wrapping for the mysterious vibe the game is going for. Especially so with the damn near endless post-game secret puzzles that needs community involvement to help solve. Although there is a lack of music throughout the game, the immersive ambiant soundscape of the well makes up for it, especially so with the haptic feedback from the DualSense.
I really loved this game and look forward to whatever BIGMODE publishes in the future.
The most fun I've had from the series so far (I haven't played Pikmin 4 yet). More emphasis on multi-tasking with the 3 captains. You can lock onto enemies now which makes fighting them actually fun now instead of frustrating like the previous games. Although the boss enemies in 2 were more unique, the boss fights in 3 were more involved and sometimes included using the level stage itself. That was pretty cool. Kinda ***** that the items are just fruit instead of unique everyday stuff like batteries or bottle caps (or old Nintendo related references lol)
The extra side content is great and can extend playtime if you want to squeeze more hours out of it. I really like Treasure Hunt the most. Olimar's side content is pretty cute too. Overall though this game is great. Loved it a lot. Looking forward to checking out Pikmin 4 next.
This game just confuses me, man. There is a lot of it I don't like, but the very few stuff that I do like keeps it from me rating it any lower.
I'll try and keep it brief as to what I don't like. With the exception of Lily, the characters are incredibly boring, and because of that I didn't really pay much attention to the story. Some of the bits of lore I read seemed interesting, but most of the time its not. The "puzzles" barely quantify as puzzles. Its more of just "go here to click this button" and feel like you're just wasting your time. Character dialogue animations feel like something that was just bought off of an asset store and comes across as very jarring when people speak. The environments are very dull and feel empty (I get that it's a desert, but still). The year is 2024, why is there invisible walls, bottomless pits, and Naughty Dog-esque clear yellow markings? These are game design problems solved years ago. I could honestly go on and on about certain things I don't like, but I only have 2000 characters lol so I hope I got most of the major offenses.
What I like the most though is the combat. It really shines in the final portion of the game and fighting the bosses are exlirating (even with the difficulty spike). The enemy designs are super cool looking and the music is great and has a suprising amount of variety to it.
If the game caught your eye, I would suggest waiting for it to go on sale before picking it up. If it means anything Shift Up could've done way worse for their first full AAA game outing, but I think there is a solid base here that a sequel could for sure fix.
Incredibly enjoyable from start to finish, and nostalgic for those who grew up in the mid to late 2000s. Combat is super satisfying and addicting and it has plenty of post-game content if you want more. Platforming is kinda ass, but it's a nice pace breaker before the fights. I highly recommend checking it out if it interests you or you played hack n slash games before and want something with a unique but satisfying gimmick.
808 is very cute. I love them
