The Evil Within is almost within reach, and Bethesda has shared the PC console commands that will let you manipulate the experience. Need more ammo? No problem. Want to stop time to get the perfect screenshot? You can do that, too.

In order to access the console, you’ll need to bring up the properties menu in Steam (right click on the title and select “Properties”). Under the “General” tab, click “Set Launch Options” and add “+com_allowconsole 1” (without the quotation marks).

After you launch the game, press the Insert button to bring up the console. Here’s what you can do from there:

R_swapinterval : -2 is the default 30 frames per second, -1 is 60 FPS, 0 is unlocked. Bethesda says that the game is fully playable at 60 frames per second with minimal bugs that will be fixed. The company does not recommend unlocking the frame rate, and it will not be addressing any problems experienced above 60 frames.

God: This will make you invincible and will even disable enemy instant kill moves.

Noclip: You’ll be able to walk through walls.

G_infiniteammo: Provided you have at least one bullet, you’ll have unlimited ammunition.

G_stoptime 1: This stops time completely. There is currently a bug that makes something from the UI appear on screen. This will be fixed.

G_stoptime 0: Starts time again.

Togglebugcamera: Gives you free control of the camera. (In combination with stopping time, a great opportunity for screenshots.)

R_forceaspectratio : Default is 2.5, 0 is full screen, 1.8 or 2 is recommended for eliminating bars

Com_showFPS: Turns on the frame rate counter

Startslowmotion2: Slow time down

Stopslowmotion: Returns time to normal speed

The Evil Within is out on October 14 (tomorrow) on PC, where you can use these commands. You’ll also be able to pick it up on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.

We’d love to see your best (scariest, goriest, most terrifying) screengrabs and videos using these commands. Feel free to send them to mike[at]gameinformer[dot]com.  For more on The Evil Within, check out the coverage from our October Horror issue.
