Plantronics BackBeat GO 2 wireless earbuds and charging case deliver immersive audio for your non-stop life with up to 14.5 hours of use on the go. Once you experience the rich bass, crisp highs, and natural midtones, you'll want every minute the charging case offers so you can lose yourself in the soundtrack of your day.

BackBeat GO 2 earbuds are designed to seal in the bass and block out the noise -- so lose the cord, free your music, and still take that call. There are three sizes of eartips and two stabilizers to provide a secure, comfortable fit.

    Stay Charged, Stay Moving

Thanks to the protective soft charging case, you'll get up to 14.5 hours of listening time with the BackBeat GO 2 wireless earbuds (from fully charged case). Two LEDs on the charging case provide key information. Press the battery icon on the case and one LED blinks to show you the battery level of the case. While charging, the LED on the case that shows the earbuds' status will blink every ten seconds until fully charged. Just 20 minutes connected to the charging case adds up to another hour of listening time.

Without using the case for additional on-the-go charging, you'll get up to 4.5 hours of listening time and up to 5 hours of talk time from these ultralight earbuds, as well as up to 10 days of standby time. If you forget to connect to the charging case, the DeepSleep hibernation mode keeps the earbuds charged for up to six months, ready for use.

    Unleash Your Music and GO

The Bluetooth-enabled BackBeat GO 2 wireless earbuds easily slip into your pocket, but still pack a full-on stereo sound. You can listen to music, chat with friends, or watch movies on your tablet -- even play games on the go.

A convenient inline controller lets you manage calls, play and pause music, and skip tracks while your smartphone is conveniently tucked away in your pocket or bag. An inline microphone captures your voice so you sound clear and natural during phone calls.

    Moisture Protection

You can rely on the BackBeat GO 2 to work as hard as you do -- through rain, sweat, and the inevitable coffee spill. BackBeat GO 2 earbuds are protected against sweat and moisture damage by P2i technology. The nano-coating is applied during the manufacturing process, resulting in invisible liquid repellent properties that also makes the earbuds more reliable, wherever your busy life takes you.

    Onscreen Battery Meter

Keep track of the battery life of your BackBeat GO 2 earbuds with a handy battery meter that automatically displays onscreen for iPhone and iPad. The free Plantronics Battery Meter widget enables a battery meter on smartphones running Android 4.0 and later and tablets running Android 3.0 and later.

Sound quality not sufficient for this price point
After about a year of use, I maintain my initial opinion that these are just okay - especially for the price. Overall, they look nice, but the sounds isn't on par w/ price.PROS:Nice form factor - easy to unplug and leave around your neck; easy setup & easy to turn on/off without having to touch the phone.Case charger - has saved me a couple times when I've forgotten to charge.CONS:Sound is tinny compared to other headphones I have - even with an equalizer, I can't get any good bass out of these things. Good for phone calls, not for music;Fit - they tend to slip out of my hears easily (a problem I have with many ear buds) - some 3rd party rubber buds helped make a more secure fit, but if I wear them while running, the rubber texture on the cord grabs my collar and they pop out often.Battery - battery life is definitely short - even for bluetooth headphones. I find that I have to charge them after every use at the gym and if I forget before the next day, It's a drag. The little charging battery in the case has saved me a few times. I can plug it in while warming up on the treadmill and they'll get enough juice to get me through weights.

Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2014
I purchased these BackBeat GO 2's because I need a lightweight Bluetooth Earbud with some distance capabilities. After digging through Plantronics White Papers on this item, I discovered two pieces of information that is not readily available in the product advertising; probably because Plantronics seems to push Apple and Google. 1. These headphones will pair nicely with a Tablet using Windows 8.1; I am using a Samsung 11.6 ATIV. 2. The specs barely mention distance. Most Bluetooth specs read 33 feet distance. I am pushing 35 - 40 feet, in a gym with other Bluetooth devices around.

I understand some Reviewers have had issue with the in-the-ear fit. I recommend switching out ear pieces and rotating the Stabilizers; No.1 in the "Getting Started" manual, to multiple positions until you find the position that suits. With the proper fit adjustments the earbuds will stay in place. These are not Noise Canceling Headphones, but with the right seal and the volume adjusted loud enough, it doesn't matter.

After you get the earbuds adjusted, CHARGE the entire unit for 2.5 hours. The 20 minute charge for 1 hour of listening is for charges from the Charge Case. Don't go trying to listen to audio until you have given the BackBeats a full charge. This will ensure you get maximum battery life through its life time. Yes, the battery only lasts 4 hours; 5 hours with the Charge Case, but let's face it, who is in the gym for 5 hours. And if you're pairing the BackBeats with a cell phone or MP3 player, charge the BackBeats as you charge your phone or player. I do have to agree that the USB Charge Case a bit tight for the earbuds. I am concerned I may crimp the cable at some point, however, the case flap is long enough to leave the buds resting at the top of the pouch and still close the case.

The BackBeat GO 2s are lightweight, do not have cumbersome cables, and there is nothing bulky hanging around your neck or on top your head. I don't hang the wire around my neck like they show in the adverts, mainly because I am on my back or inverted on some piece of gym equipment. The cable is short enough that it does not get in my way and yet long enough that if I do put the cable behind my neck the controls with mic are still at chin level; which is where you want the mic anyways. Speaking of the mic...

I Skype everyone I know. The controls work fine at answering Skype calls. Since I do not carry a cell phone or MP3 player, I have a Skype number. When people call me, answering the Skype call with the BeatBeat Controls is no problem. And I do not have to pick up the mic and place it to my mouth to be heard. I would contribute that to the mic being at chin level.

I am not an Audiophile so I am not a good judge of sound quality. I primarily listen to audiobooks via Audible. For that purpose the sound is really good. It’s not 7.1 in the ear, but it more than meets the needs.

Construction of the Headphones and the case are very good quality. I would have much rather a snap or fabric closure strap on the case versus the rubber closure strap, but with care it should last. The headphones are actually ruggedized in a semi military manner. They are sweat resistant. The cable is a ribbon cable; supposedly to keep it from twisting and tangling, and it too is rubber coated.

I do not recommend the BackBeats to someone looking to do a road trip or 8hrs of work. These are not for hours upon hours of use. I would recommend them for the person mowing their own lawn, house cleaning, going to the gym or laundry

One last note. I noticed one advertiser listed the Plantronics BackBeat GO 2s as being "Made in America". They are NOT. They are Designed in Santa Cruz, California, America, made in Malaysia.

    Report
Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2014
I have always had a preference for ear buds and even more so, bluetooth ones. For at least 5 years I have been using a Sony DRC-BT30 pendant-style with 3.5mm headphone socket but it has become harder to find replacement buds that fitted my key criteria - asymmetric and short cabling.

Having accepted that if I find such a replacement pair, they were likely to be a random low-quality pair where sound is compromised too far, I started investigating corded, self-contained models (without detachable buds) - which I quickly reduced to a decision between the Plantronics BackBeat GO 2 and JayBird BlueBud X. I had read about the short battery life on the GO 2s and I could see from photos that they would protude from the ear quite a bit but as they were vastly cheaper than the BBX, I decided to choose the more economical option this time around.

Overall I am pleased with the quality of sound. As I mostly use them for community and listening to podcasts, my stereophonic demands are quite simple - as long as they're not "tinny" or flat, I'm happy. On that front, they are a pass.

The short battery life is very noticeable but unlikely my older set, these do a great job to alert with the voice cues about the battery level and after further use, that they need recharging. I find the charging pouch indispensible due to this shortcoming and I often find they go flat inconveniently in the middle of my train ride. However, being able to stash them away connected in the pouch knowing they'll be charged next use is good. The Backbeat GO 2 are actually available locally in New Zealand, but as nobody sold the kit with the charging pouch, I purchased them here instead. I implore anyone purchasing these to make sure they get the charging pouch.

The ear bud fit is less than stellar. I have never had to fiddle much with my previous buds before but as these have a lot more weight to them, with the electronics in the buds, I find it a little tricky to seat them in a way that will maintain a good seal and not fall out. Turning my head also causes them to become loose. I even considered looking at Comply foam tips but, alas, they don't make them for this model. I did notice the BB GO 2 have a plastic cylinder surrounded by silicone as opposed to all-silicone tips of other bud I have worn and I feel this contribute to less comfort when wearing them.

The remote is excellent and I found they associate really quickly (compared to my 5 year old set).

Despite the fit and the short battery, I am pleased with my purchase. While I haven't tried any others, I am confident they are better than most. However, when the BackBeat GO 2 eventually perish, or I start listening to more music, my next purchase will be the BlueBud X.
