These eye shades were featured on the dr. Oz show as an item that can help you to achieve the deep sleep that we all need. They include an inside layer of 100-percent light blocking material and a softly padded eye cradle on the inside that follows the contour of your nose to provide complete darkness, stimulating your body's own natural melatonin production which is helpful for falling asleep. We also include a pair of corded and reusable earplugs to block out noise and there is a handy storage pocket for them on the front. The velour eye shades (black, midnight, cherry) match with our utopia neck pillow, and our fun fur eye shades (charcoal, eggplant, periwinkle, and leopard) match with our fun fur neck pillow.

The Bucky Shades Cotton Velour are the best eye pillows I have used. The best feature is a padded ridge on the bottom of the shade that keeps the shade off the eyes. The result is a very comfortable fit. In addition, the strap is adjustable and the coverage is excellent - eliminating almost all light. I find them very comfortable to sleep with. I recently purchase these for a my girlfriend, who loves them. I have owned a pair for a pretty long time - maybe about 10 years. They are still going strong, although the strap has stretched out at this point. ANother nice feature is the little pouch to hold earplugs. Good luck!
I love this sleep mask. I put it on as soon as my husband wakes up in the morning and turns the light on. It is comfortable and does a great job keeping the light out. I like how the nose is padded and keeps the eye area from pressing right against your eyelids. Unfortunately, my dog loves this mask as well. This is the second one I've ordered in a month...I keep it in a drawer when I'm not using it now.
I've been purchasing Bucky eyes shades for years. They are comfortable and block out the light. Unfortunately my last 3 purchases (2 black and 1 cappuccino) stained my pillow case. I washed them several times and this did not help. I will no longer purchase Bucky eye shades and am desperately trying to find an alternative. REI eyes shades also stain pillow cases.
Straps are thick and hard/stiff so they hurt my ears whether I put the strap over my ears or above/behind.
The whole night mask seems unnecessarily stiff. The seam material is nylon which makes it hard/stiff. There also seems to be a hard piece of nylon or thin plastic in the middle of the mask that is then covered with the polyester material.
It rides up during the night so that the cushion that's there to keep light out of the nose bridge is putting pressure on my eyelids.
It either doesn't stay on through the night or I pull it off due to it being uncomfortable/irritating.
I returned it and I'm going with this mask: http://www.amazon.com/IMAK-Eye-Mask-Pain-Relief/dp/B000VHYLFW - it's a bit bulky (since it's basically a bean bag on your face) but it's comfortable, good quality, and it blocks out 100% of light.
This is the second best night mask in my opinion: http://www.amazon.com/Dream-Essentials-Dreams-Contoured-Earplugs/dp/B000CCI4YU - the only issues are it lets in some light at the nose bridge and it's not the greatest quality (the strap and mask degrade fairly quickly).
EDIT: this mask is the best, by far: http://www.amazon.com/Bucky-Blinks-Mask-Ultralight-Black/dp/B000WNX21Y
I work night shift and was looking for a eye shade. It's very comfortable in terms of softness but it's really thick so if I'm a little warm, my forehead gets a little hot underneath this....I'm wondering how it'll be in the summer time but really, I think for the price, it's a good buy and I guess you need all that cushioning to get a 'good seal' to stop the light.
Love 'em! My second pair (first pair lasted for about 10 years, and only the elastic gave out -- the eyeshade itself, inclding the padded "ledge," is still instact). Excellent materials, very well-made.
What sets these apart: smart design. The padding at the bottom ensures that your eyelashes and eyelids don't feel smashed. Yet the eyeshade fits snugly, ensuring no light seepage. (If this helps others determine fit: I'm a woman, 5' tall, with a medium-sized head/face and a big nose. The eyeshade covers from my hairline to mid-cheek, yet it doesn't feel overwhelming or masklike.)
Also, they're lightweight, considering how effectively they block outthe light. (Heavier, obviously, than the little satin shades you get on an airplane, but those don't work well.)
Someone complained that the straps make a "bump" where the two ends join (via velcro); I don't find that to be a problem, partly because the straps are relatively thin and partly bc the overlap is 4"-5" (so I just feel a uniform band, not a bump of 1"), but mostly because the mask is designed for the strap to rest where the head begins to slope in -- so the part of the back-of-head that makes maximum contact with the pillow isn't encumbered by the strap.
I bought this for my spouse and she loves this, and describes it as the perfect sleeping mask. The price may seem a little high for a mask but the quality is very good and I still consider it good value.
