SEATTLE, U.S. -- Microsoft has developed its own in-house AI semiconductors, the company said Wednesday, aiming to boost the performance of products like generative AI ChatGPT and reduce costs.
The announcement was made at an event in Seattle, Washington. Microsoft has developed two types of chips: Maia, which will be used to run generative artificial intelligence in data centers, and Cobalt, which will be used in cloud-based software services.
