3 Limitations Of Tumblr Rich Text Post Editor

The Tumblr rich text post editor is pretty cool and has a lot of nice features but it isn’t perfect. Its got some limitations. Here’s three of them.

Tumblr rich text editor

The rich text format is the default post editor on Tumblr (microblogging platform and social networking site). In this mode, you can see and make use of some cool features that make it easier for you to write your article and add some media to it.

For example, if you highlight the words in your text content, several circles will show up, allowing you to choose from options like italicizing your text, inserting a link, and more.

If you press enter on your keyboard, a small plus (+) sign will show up on the outside of the text post editor. If you click on this symbol, you will see a few more options to choose from. You can decide to add a pic or video to your post and even insert a “read more” link.

How to add pics via image URL?

I also just found out recently that you can actually use the text post editor to add pictures via their image URL. All you need to do is paste the link on the text box and the photo will automatically show up. Pretty cool, eh? So, what’s the problem then? What are some of the limitations of the rich text editor?

Unfortunately, you can’t add photo borders and captions to pics using the Tumblr rich text post editor. So, to do this, I had to go to the HTML view and add some codes from there

Can’t center photos and videos

The first is that you can’t center the photographs and videos that you add to your post.

They will be aligned to the left and you can’t align them to the right or center them without going to the HTML view and using some codes.

Limitation of Tumblr rich text editor

The second is that you can move the pic and vid but that’s all you can do with the rich text editor.

You can’t even resize either of them so you’re stuck with the default size unless you go to the HTML editor and start making changes.

Can’t add captions or borders to pics

The third limitation is that you can’t add captions or borders to your pictures. Again, you will have to go to the HTML editor if you want to do this. Don’t you wish that the rich text post editor of Tumblr also let you do all these useful things so you don’t have to go through the trouble of going to the HTML view and adding all the necessary codes just to style and position your videos and photos?
