This is extremely disappointing.
The debate has been on about who will be the U.S. Ryder Cup team captain and it reportedly will not be Tiger Woods. Woods declined the chance to lead America in 2025 when they take on Europe at Bethpage, according to The Telegraph.
Woods will reportedly not have the time to be able to handle the captaincy due to him being deeply involved with the negotiations between the PGA Tour and Public Investment Fund (PIF), the financial powerhouse that’s under the control of the Saudi Arabian government and funds LIV Golf. A vice captain in the past, Woods has been one of the biggest names — if not the biggest — to be brought up as the guy for the role.
And now with Tiger out, The Telegraph is reporting that PGA veteran Stewart Cink could be the captain, which I’m not a fan of whatsoever.

What a bummer, especially considering I just tweeted this not that long ago:

Now that we’re at this point — and no, I’m not trying to hear the name Stewart Cink — the PGA of America executive team needs to swallow their pride and bring on Phil Mickelson as the captain, and I want Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka put on as his main vice captains.
It’s the only way to move forward.
UPDATE: Keegan Bradley will be named as the next captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, according to a report from Sports Illustrated. He succeeds Zach Johnson, who Bradley was bypassed by for the captaincy in the 2023 edition of the prestigious tournament.

Can’t lie … I’m not hating this move. It breaks the mold, and that we can work with.
Now, at least bring on Phil Mickelson as a vice-captain, we can just let Bryson and Brooks be hard-hitters from there.
